PHOTO DISPLAY

Post by CABBYJ on Sun May 16, 2010 11:00 am

I need some ideas on how to set-up the photos for parties? Of course it needs to be a low cost option. Very Happy

Well a really cheap way is to just get some black foam board from Wal-mart and tape pictures to it. I had to do that yesterday since I accidentally packed away my regular display stuff for moving. It worked out alright.

Black foam core looks good and is inexpensive. I got a piece of black plastic from my 9 to 5 and use glue dots like they sell for scrapbooking to adhere the pics

I looked at those pocket charts yesterday but they are so small! Personal opinion only but I don't think the design are big enough to be seen well that tiny. I was hoping their would be a pocket chart with larger pockets but all of them are either very narrow or very short (at least locally)

I don't have a pic of my board.I went to walmart photo dept. used my memory card and made up a 20/20 picture board 2/2.5 inch pics around 48 pics in all . Looks great I love it only draw back you can't change up pics. The whole thing cost $12.00. You can also print your company name and number in the middle of the board.

I use two "poster" frames from Micheals craft store. You can manipulate the pics however you want and they are safe under plastic from the elements.

I use a baseball card holder ... I use it for my glitter tat display... all of the slots are baseball card sized.. plus I ordered the pack of same sized card stock to glue pics to...

it's great cuz you can change it out whenever you want.

They are sold out of them now though... but Oriental Trading has a lot of pocket classroom display options.. just search "pockets"

You can also check out your local Teacher and Parents Store.. lots of good stuff there.

I got mine on www.amazon.com for $20. It holds 4 x 6 photos if you cut them down to 5" high. I like it because I can zap strap it to blinds or hang on a mantle or when at an event I use shower curtain rings and hang it from a clothing rack.

I was worried about my board blowing away or 'flapping' in the wind, so I got a thick plywood board covered it in thick black material with a staple gun and laminated my photos, some I put in plastic sleeves. Then I attached velcro sticky dots to the back of the pictures, that way I can move them around as much as I want.

The only problem is people keep taking them off the board and standing in line with them!!! I need a couple of DO NOT TOUCH signs!

Don't take any!
I have a few on my big canvas banner to pull people in but its more creative/ freer to not work from pics....
At most I used to use a funky 'list' of name 0 you know, batman, cat, butterfly, flower fairy....

For those of you looking for something extra-large/dramatic (6' square!), I just found this:

Also, does anyone use a display for birthday parties? Or do you guys really only use them to keep a line moving?

I'm using a black magnetic dry erase board (like they use in restaurants with the neon dry erase markers?) and 4x6 magnetic photo holders now.

I'll post a pic when I get home. The ease of switching out pics is awesome!

For parties, I have a binder with pictures in photo pages, together with a couple of pages with word suggestions/drawings for designs I don't have pictures for.

For less personal events, I'm currently just using a word list, but I'm looking at getting one of these eventually. This one holds 40 pictures, 4x6, per side (it's reversible). They have smaller sizes available too: http://picturepocketsusa.com/ They are on Ebay also: http://myworld.ebay.ca/picturepocketsusa/

Here's what I use...

It's black foam board with the pictures velcroed on so I can change them out depending on the event. The board is held up using this system:
http://www.clipsigns.com/index2.html

This way the guests can see the pics and so can I if I need to refer to one, and I don't lose laminated sheets or a binder. The sign holder actually folds up and fits in my fatmax Smile

I don't use pics for birthday parties. Too much stuff to carry. But if I ever get a photo book together I'd consider that. Instead I have little flyer type things printed up with "Face Painting Ideas" (A menu of sorts) It also has removal instructions and a little blurb about services. When I get to the face painting portion of the party, I just hand those out. The idea is that the flyer hopefully makes it home with the kid.

You can also ask the Mom to put some in the loot bags if they're doing that. They're usually happy to.
