Balloon Mustang

Post by Kristal on Mon May 17, 2010 2:49 am

It was my Dad's birthday on Tuesday. I seem to have started a "Kristal will twist something for your birthday" kind of 'tradition', and I was wracking my brain about this one...He's got a Mustang Shelby Hertz (that I have never seen; it's in storage), and I figured, why not?! It turned out bigger than I'd originally planned, haha...and in retrospect, I should have made the front longer, but oh well. Live and learn. My brother made the side mirrors, license plate and the rear left wheel - he's very proud!

With our creation:

Back:

Front - check out the headlights! Haha.

Side - there's a steering wheel in there, too...

LOVE IT! Mustangs are my Fave! I'm gonna own one one day... *sigh...* but that'll be after I can make it past my craptastic first car.

Very cool! I have four balloon jobs next week and need to brush up on my skills.

Has anyone seen that video on doing giant princesses? I so want that, but can't think of when I would be "paid" to do it.

Thanks! It very nearly didn't fit out the door of the room I made it in...haha.

We 'planted' it on the table the night before, so I didn't see dad as he saw it - but it was well received Very Happy Jokes about driving it to the living room and gas mileage etc.

I twisted for a couple of hours, then went to the gym. Did a class and when my instructor asked if I was staying for the next one, I said, "I can't; I have to go twist a Mustang" - should've seen everyone's faces! Haha.

As of right now, I have been paid exactly 1 time for a, extra-large piece, and less than 10 times for large bouquets - all around Valentine's. These birthday pieces are challenging me while 'waiting' for clients who can commission giant balloon sculptures, and won't think they're a 'waste of money'
