Poof the glitter on when the paint is still a bit wet.

yeah, get it on when the paint is as wet as possible... often times though, by the time I get to the glitter, most of the paint is pretty dry. It'll still stick, but it gives more of a dusted with glitter effect than a real intense glittery spot.

If the paint is too dry, you can take a Q-tip or your finger dipped in water then dabbed on a towel to add a bit more moisture, that way the glitter will stick better than on a totally dry painting.

Also, have the child close their eyes before poofing & warn them they'll feel a poof. If not they jump a bit as it startles them.

a very very very small dab of vaseline/petroleum jelly is what I use holds the glitter on real nice. Paint always dries to fast for me and can't keep stopping to put glitter on everytime a do a stroke of paint. Now that I have my shimmer wand I turn to that now more than I do the glitter

Would a light spritz of water on the face work if the paint dries too fast? That would be faster I would think.

LOL!Then make sure they ACTUALLY close their eyes. One of my mother's painters tends to forget that part.

I don't poof on the eyes, but sometimes the glitter will get near them anyway, so better to be safe. It's always unnerving when you forget to warn them of the poof & the do that little jump each puff:-)

I've used my glitter in the poofer bottle, I found that the kids do jump when you poof it on them you also don't have a precise application. I now have my glitter in a tiny jar with a lid & I dip my pointer finger tip into it & apply it exactly where I want it. The warmth of my finger helps the adhesion if the paint has already dried.

I used to apply glitter that way, but I hated if I hit a patch of wet paint & bluched finger prints on the design.
