Snazaroo paint crayons

Post by saphrone on Fri Jun 18, 2010 1:03 pm

I can't figure out how to use them, their in my box of supplies "I didn't know any better" and purchase when I first started a few months back along with the other horrible cheap face paints ... Does anyone know how they work do you have to let them sit in water , if so how long etc. Dabbing in water definitely did not work. Not instruction on the package, really. Would you recommend them? if so for what.

from the Snazaroo website:

Face Painting Crayons from "Fun Stuff"

SNAZAROO offers the best quality in face painting crayons. These are FDA compliant for use on the skin. The apply easily. You can paint directly to the skin or for a faster "glide" you can dip them in water and then paint on the skin. Either way they are bold colors that are washed off easily with mild soap and water. You can buy the crayons in a 6 color pack of .6 inch diameter crayons that are 3 inches tall. These are only available from SNAZAROO USA Inc.. They sell for $4.50 for a six pack.

would I recommend them? not a chance... is colouring with crayons ever a nice picture?? no way. While I'm sure that the quality of the ingredients is not in question, it's the method of application that sucks.

I use a lot of snaz stuff and love it, I thought these might be a good addition to the kit for really fast, small designs, they were not. The only colour you can even really see is the red, they do not work at all.

I agree. I got some for my daughter for xmas, to put in her sock, and she doesn't even like them. She says they hurt and they don't work.

Most of the so called face painting crayons are best suited to be used in colouring books... give them to the kids to play with.

I used the crayons once a long time ago(probably right when I 1st started face painting). I can't remember the brand, but I remember being really frustrated w/ them. It's probably best for you to go get a basic $16 Snazaroo kit or get the Klutz Book w/ the Wolfe Pallet & some good paint brushes & sponges.

I only use face paint crayons(black or white) to sometimes outline a design first prior to adding color so I can see the scale/proportions

This is the outline of a design I did a while ago

and this was the finished product

Just into face painting, I figured since Snaz had such great products, the crayons would be just what I needed for my kit. WRONG!

I found them worthless and recommend not wasting your money on them. They were the first in my "worthless" box.

I know this thread is old - but I was wondering is it possible to grind up or mash up the crayons into cakes and use them like regular face paint cakes with water and a brush?

Not a big fan of crayons, not at all, they all gives that cheap quality view to your work, nothing like real face paint to have good and quality results!!
