Hi! I'm new:o)

Post by CottonKandyClown on Fri Jun 25, 2010 9:38 am

Hello!

I've been into face painting for about a yr now. I haven't started my own business, yet. I've done a few church events and two birthday parties for free.

I have two children 5yrs and 7yrs. I'd love to make this a business, but how do you juggle kids and face paint at the sametime?! LOL scratch

CottonKandy, you're a clown, juggling should come easy to you Very Happy

Seriously, it does take time management, but it's doable. The best part is you can set your own hours. I have a date book that I write OPEN on every page I can work. I write in kid activities on the dates I can't. If someone calls & I have a recital or a voice lesson, etc I just say, sorry, I'm booked(they don't need to know I'm booked by my family).

Welcome to the forum & read all the old posts. It'll help you on your journey!

Metzpah Thank you

psalmsbook

I'm just a clown want to be. I can look like a clown, but the acting and juggling part, not so good at Laughing

That sounds so professional to say I'm booked when I have family events. Thank you so much:o) Very Happy

Welcome CottonKandy!
Working your schedule is a matter of identifying "No work zones": your days, hours, time periods, kid schedules family stuff, set aside as inviolate personal time etc.

What's left is available time for painting:) Be sure to keep a book and try to get a free website. Smile Need help? You are in the right place!!!!!!

Feel free to ask questions we can all help! Smile

Hi and welcome to the forum.
Funnily enough I started face painting mainly because I did have a child.
I wanted to be able to be at home during the week to take and pick up from school, and I didn't want to work nights! So weekends it is.
Sometimes it's hard, I feel like I never have 'quality' time with her, I'm always rushing off to a gig or rushing her off to school, and she doesn't like that fact i'm always going to parties without her ( I usually bring her home cake to make up for this - hehe)
When your kids are a bit older they can be assistants or line managers and you can take them with you. In some ways face painting is the best career choice if you have kids.
Have fun on the forum it's a never ending wealth of information and support!

I agree w/ Tash. My daughters work w/ me every weekend & love doing it. They can''t wait to get their drivers licences so they can start doing gigs on their own.

Hi and welcome. I have to agree with all the others, i have two little ones and I think it works beautifully. I don't have a boss that I am constantly letting down, i make my own hours and it is just great to do something I love and get paid for it too!!! I've always used the "I'm so sorry, i'm already booked" line, I think it is a great way of letting customers down. No-one wants to hear you can't make it as you want to do something with your kids instead! Happy Face Painting Very Happy
