I just can't seem to get better.

Post by Tash on Tue Jun 29, 2010 10:07 pm

Everynight I go to bed early, hoping that when I wake up I will be feeling better - it's now been over two months and I'm still sick. Rarely a night goes by that I don't have a really bad fever completely with body cramps and aches. I have a filthy chest infection that sounds like a chainsaw starting up, and have constant headaches. I have been working 12hours min every weekend and by the time Monday comes around I can't get out of bed to take my daughter to school.
I'm trying to be patient, and look after myself, but I never feel like eating and have to force feed myself, it's gotten to the point that my 5 year old eats bigger meals , and more often then me. If I can get a meal a day into me that a good day. I'm wondering how long I can go on like this.
Today my husband is sick....stomach virus, and my little one has come down with a cold and I'm running between them trying to keep everyone happy. I just want to cry.
I want to go to bed for a week and not wake up.
Sorry for the depressive post - nobody around here seems to care that my energy level is minus 10, so I thought i might vent to the painting mum's out there who know's how hard it is to be everything to everyone all the time.
Here's hoping tomorrow morning will see an improvement in my health..... and my outlook.

I hope you feel better love... I wasn't ill... but I was so tired all of the time and sleeping 14 hours a day... gaining weight for like a year. Turned out I had hypothyroidism... Was glad to figure it out!! Has the doctor said anything?

I've seen two different doctors - which for me was hard, I have to be a deaths door before I show up at the doctors, but both of them made me feel like a was making a mountain out of a molehill, and told me it was a virus and I would be ok in a couple of days.
One also said it was the weather getting me down!! for freaks sake.
If I haven't gotten better by next week I'm going to ask for a referral to a respiratory specialist - as I'm pretty sure if I'm not getting enough oxygen it would explain the exhaustion and the headaches.
Thanks for caring Suzy - feeling sorry for myself isn't helping anyone.

I know how that feels, Im a mum and wife and work full time outside of painting and Ive only recently recovered from Pneumonia (and have just been hit by another bacterial respiratory infection). Once you drag yourself out of bed (no matter how rotten you feel) youre deemed fit to carry on as normal... No-one cares but our mums Sad

When I laid down I could actually hear the bubbling/gurgling in my lungs it was horrid. However I did have a doctor who was very concerned, and not writing it off as a virus as many tend to do.

I would suggest seeing another doctor, keeping a log of your temp vs time panadol taken is helpful too. And dont be scared to question him, remember, youre paying him to provide you a service! Its just a virus he says - then make him prove it, have blood tests done, chest xray, if youre coughing up anything get that tested too.. It shouldnt be still going on this long..

Hope youre feeling better flower

Could well be a type of bacterial infection called 'walking pneumonia.' It will respond to antibiotics, but certain ones work better than others. A viral respiratory infection shouldn't last more than 7-10 days.
Please do go back to the MD. You are entitled to feel better.

Tash, a couple of years ago I had cold after cold after cold & just couldn't get better. I think it was because my dad was in a nursing home & those places carry illnesses. I felt the same way as you. I'd definitely go back to the doctor & say this has gone beyond any virus & need attention NOW! What's healthcare like in Australia(it's getting pretty bad here in the states:-)
I'm praying for you & your family to get better.

Oh Tash I feel for you so much. I had a really bad cold/cough a while back & just couldn't shake the cough. A friend of mine told me about Colloidal Silver you can get it from the health food shop. I started taking it & within days I noticed a difference in my breathing & got to feeling a lot better. I haven't been sick since. My friend that told me about it had a chest infection & took colloidal silver got better & hasn't been sick since & that was over a year ago. Google it & have a read about it for yourself.
Hope you get on the road to recovery soon. xx flower

Thanks for the wonderfully caring posts - just knowing that people care makes me feel better already - I have full intention of going to a doctor and making him find out whats wrong - I'm not leaving untill he does SOMETHING.
The 'walking pneumonia' sounds just like I feel' - like a walking zombie.
The worst part is just not being able to breath, all the ventilin in the world isn't helping - just making my head spin.
I have been looking at the information on Colloidal silver and it looks really interesting.
Lyndell I appreciate your post - but unfortunately that article is an extreme case of misinformation..... that guy was badly misinformed and was consuming far too much that hadn't been prepared properly.
If anyone else is interested here is the science behind it - http://www.colloidalsilver.com.au/
So thank-you Mandi, always helps to have a preventative or an alternative to antibiotics - and to educate yourself!
Last night i had no FEVER!!! YAY!! hopefully this means something... at least I don't have to spend today having multiple showers and baths to try and balance my body temperature!
So frustrated with my body - fix yourself damn you!!

Tash I know you said that you hadn't been eating well, which I am sure is contributing to the listlessness, but I say that to say........Have you ever considered that the prolonged status of you not feeling up to par may be from a chemical imbalance in your body possibly due to a lack of needed nutrients or vitamin deficiency. I don't know if you take vitamins or other mineral supplements.....but I just thought I would throw that out there perhaps another point of discussion for you to have with your physician.

Just a thought..........I hope healing and restoration is on it's way to you soon.

I hope you'll feel better soon!...could you slow down on business for a while?..(I don't know if you depend on the income from painting)...I think you need to take some rest...and indeed keep bugging the doctors...it isn't normal to stay sick this long!...aks them if they would accept such an answer if they were sick for 2 months!

hugs! I love you
