Sunny Scotland

Post by gallus on Thu Aug 05, 2010 1:10 pm

I'm Elaine, I'm new to face painting professionally - been an adequate amateur up until now. However, I've taken the plunge - bought sable brushes, sponges and a rather exciting rainbow split cake and am away to paint the kids of Edinburgh red. If they want to be spiderman, that is!

Am looking forward to learning lots from you talented bunch!

Welcome, Elaine! I love Edinburgh... I lived there when I was a kid for a few years when my dad's company transferred him. We lived on Corstorphine Hill and right across the street was the best sledding hill ever!

Welcome, Elaine! I know you will love it here. I haven't been to Scotland, but I did live in Harrogate for a year when I was a child. I don't remember it being sunny there!
Enjoy!

I live at the bottom of Corstorphine hill, Dawnie! How bizarre.

When we moved here we went exploring the area, as you do. We found a wee path going up to the back of the hill through the woods. Up, up, up, and I started to smell a country smell - "there must be stables up here" I said to my beloved...and then a zebra walked past! We nearly pooped ourselves! I did not realise the zoo backs onto Corstorphine hill and had not noticed the enormous fences! May well have disgraced myself if it'd been a lion lumbering alongside...

Thanks for the welcomes, what a nice bunch. E x

Yep, Elaine, some of my fondest memories are walking to the zoo at least twice a month LOL! I'm getting so "home"sick... Edinburgh is by far my favorite place out of all the places we lived around the world. It's so beautiful!

Hello! Welcome from the Wicklow Mountains (they're really hills though) in Ireland! The (only, I think) time I wen't to Scotland, the solar eclipse was happening. I remember stopping to watch it through our ferry tickets. I was quite little at the time and remember peeking glances at the direct sun afraid it might blind me. Beautiful countryside! Good Luck on the forum and with your gigs!
