First Henna!

Post by Firebird FX on August 6th 2010, 1:49 am

Yay, excited...just finished mt first henna. It has it's flaws, but I'm proud of it. My first attempt at a design was a disaster...I made the mix too wet and the lines mushed in to eachother, so I gave up before I started. This time the mix was just a bit dryer than I'd have liked but atleast I finished the design. I copied some of the design from a website, but chose to put an eye in the middle rather than arabic text, made the dots alot bigger, expanded the design to my wrist, and changed the sizes of a couple things.

I'm thinking of adding henna to my services in a month or two when I improve; how much is the typical hourly rate?

thanks!

Very nice. I'm very new to henna & my daughter rocks at it. The henna page is a great resource on henna.

Looks great for a first run!! Much braver than I was! My first one was about 2 inches long on the inside of my wrist!

But beware!!!! It gets addicting! I can't even wait for my henna to fade. I start scrubbing it off after about a week, just so I can do a new one. And I pray every night that I'll wake up the next day and be magically ambidextrous, so that I can henna my right hand! Rolling Eyes Hasn't happened yet.

Haha, luckily it's already fading, just the fingertips are an uneven poop brown. I got alot of people asking if it was a tattoo or if I "drew on" myself and funny looks when I told them it was henna. That makes me not so hopeful for my future plans as a henna artist. :/

Sweet design. I wish I had more motivation and some more henna to play around with!

I end up w/ designs that are un-ending.... I'm a doodler by nature, so it just comes naturally to keep going....

LOL! You are so right about it becoming addicting. I just started this past summer also and like you can only do my left hand...so instead of waiting for it to fade I started practicing designs with my black body paint (wolf black), taking pics, washing it off and starting over.

Here is one design I did w/body paint for practice:

and here is one I did with henna on my ankle:

Wow! You guys are so talented with henna. I can't draw a straight line with that stuff. I love the way it looks though. Wish I were better at it.

Whitney, you can do it. Just practice w/ some chocolate frosting on wax paper.

I use guta bottles with a 6/7 nib and it makes it easy to get the detail. It is much easier for long days and less messy.
