I Love My DFX Metallix, but has anybody else noticed...
That you go through them VERY fast? I mean like REALLY fast? I mean, yeah, it's summer and I'm painting a lot, but it seems like they go much faster than wolfe or paradise. Snaz is the only color I seem to run through quicker.

Is it because you love them so? And therefore you grab them first?
My metallics last forever, but I don't use them very often.

Yes, I use them a lot, but I did the same with my Wolfe metallics and they seem to last a lot longer.
Re: I Love My DFX Metallix, but has anybody else noticed...
I haven't noted that they don't last as long as other colours, taking into consideration how much more often I use them. But they are softer than the flat colours, so it is easier getting more on your sponge. Even if you don't use it all. Since Snaz also is very soft, if would guess it was the same case with them.

Now that you mentioned.. I had noticed that I need to "really load" my sponge good in order to get the metallics to pop out, it happens only on the DFX and Paradise

I don't use DFX, but my Paradise metallics go a little quicker. I think it's because I lay it on thicker than non-metallics to get the effect I'm going for.

Clayton, (not to bring up the whole sponge debate) but do you use a new sponge per child or per color? I find that the colors don't pop until about the second or third child and then they last all day. If you use a new sponge with each child, you may be throwing a lot of paint out with the sponge.

I go through certain colors quicker(metallic white), but it's only because I use them so much. I also go through paradise white like crazy... again... I use it in almost every design.

oh gosh no. One sponge per color.
Re: I Love My DFX Metallix, but has anybody else noticed...
I have noticed the same thing Clayton, but with Tag v's Paradise.
I bough a 50g neon rainbow split from Tag, and it disappears fast (Tag), I've been told Tag and DFX are the same - I also noticed if I left my sponge on top of the cake it stuck there! And the sponge sucked up so much paint but didn't want to spit it back out again - and I tried 4 different sponge densities to stop that happening. It's like the paint is thinner - less creamy, so to get a good even smooth coverage you have to use more.
It makes sense with the metallics that you would have to load/use more as the base pigments arn't nearly as strong as your flat colors - but why I have this problem with neons - I can't work it out.
Wish Paradise would bring out some neons and solve my problem.

My problem is I go through the Wolfe Neon Rainbow every few weeks. Everyone wants it & it works for so many designs.
Re: I Love My DFX Metallix, but has anybody else noticed...
I would say I go through my DFX metallix white the fastest. The green and blue and violet are so dark that I don't need a lot to cover a face. Sometimes I use a normal color and them pat over it with a metallix sheen if I am running low on the color. I love love love the fushia/pink/red metallix the most!

Re: I Love My DFX Metallix, but has anybody else noticed...
I am so goofy sometimes... I just realized something. The container for DFX is the widest out there, or at least wider than any other containers for the paints I use... So, the paint is going to look like it goes quicker because it's going to be thinner in the container. LOL, I mean, it still seems like it goes quicker, but maybe not as quick as I was thinking.
Re: I Love My DFX Metallix, but has anybody else noticed...
The DFX metallix are a lot softer (try cutting one up to make split cakes- you will see what I mean lol)... so when using sponges, they do get used a tad quicker than the regular essential colors. If you use a brush though- it seems to last a while longer. I have found that you really don't need much paint to pack a punch though- DFX metallix are very pigmented. I really don't see much of a difference honestly. I do agree that the neons go QUICK! lol I use them very very very often though (if one kid gets it- they ALL get it! lol)... oh and the neons tend to need more water all the time! I pretty much have to reload my brush after every swirl with neons- if I can even make it that far! lol I love them though!
