Rainbow Glitter please.
Hi de ho,
I'm looking for rainbow glitter - I have some rainbow glitter dust from Mehron which is fast running out - it's great because it goes over any color and sparkles wonderfully - I have glitter in every other color - but it annoys me to have to match it up and takes time - so I always just go for the dust - thing is - it's more silver then rainbow - so I was wondering if anyone has seen full rainbow glitter? Do I have to make my own?
Does white glitter look white when used over other colours?
Also can anyone clue me in on the stuff Mark Reid uses on his bases to get them so sparkly? I know he uses paradise and adds some sort of sparkly dust that looks amazing - especially on white bases.
Any info would be good - I could email him directly but I don't want to bother him with little details.
Does anyone use glitter from the glitter tattoo kits for face painting - I have been told it's the same thing - but need to check with the experts - that would be you!

Re: Rainbow Glitter please.
White sparkles... it isn't white per se when on a face. I use white most of the time.
There really isn't "rainbow" glitter - there is holographic white which is white that reflects different colours. red/green, blue/green, blue/red, etc. Then there is irridescent white which probably is more what you are describing that seems to reflect many colours at the same time.
Yellow irridescent on all colours is gorgeous - particularly on rainbows.
Matching glitter to bases is something I never even think about - I carry four colours and if I am feeling unrushed I ask the kids which colour they want - white, silver, gold or pink. I also carry some yellow but don't offer it, I just use it.
Glitter is glitter - cosmetic glitter. It is the same for tattoos as it is for sprinkling... there are various sizes, types of finishes (like holographic, metallic, etc.)
Mark uses Mehron "Precious Gems" powders which are their brand of shimmer powders. Most of the companies have a line of shimmer powders which all are essentially the same - Snaz, etc.
Any of these can be applied over top of face paints to pump up the volume, so to speak. I like using "Opal" or colours like silver, white, pale pink rubbed over top of black paint - AMAZING effect.

Re: Rainbow Glitter please.
Shannon you rock - the advice and info is awesome, you told me everything I needed to know - thankyou so much.
There is rainbow glitter - made by Mehron - but it's not the cheapest or the most vibrant so I thought I may look for a different brand.
I made some of my own today, looks a bit heavy - maybe that's why they don't do it.
But I did order some opal gem powder on your recommendation - can't wait to get my hands on it - if it sux I will totally blame you- hahaha just kidding!
Next order white holographic glitter - just can't get enough of the sparkly stuff!

Re: Rainbow Glitter please.
Yea I use the white iridescent one, I love it so much! Have just bought a bunch of other colours, but the white's such a good general one - picks up all the colours
Re: Rainbow Glitter please.
I don't ever pull out the other glitter colors... just the white iridescent. No muss, no fuss, just sparkle, goes with everything.
Re: Rainbow Glitter please.
Holographic and irrides mean the same thing I belive. Is this right ladies?

Yes, the white goes over all colors & gives them just the right sparkle. I don't like messing w/ the different colors as they will often look like black heads instead of glitter.

When it comes to glitter they are not quite the same.
Iridescent- Provides semi-sheer coverage. The iridescent glitters I have are a main color, but reflect a different color depending on the lighting. For instance the white I have in bathroom light the reflective color may be blue, in my living room looks purple, but outside it might look more green.
Holographic- Provides full coverage. In any light reflects many colors. The reflection is more like a full rainbow spectrum.
Re: Rainbow Glitter please.
I prefer Mehron Precious Gem Powders rather than glitter. Unlike glitter you can add it to a dry design and Shannon's right the effect is wonderful.
I do use glitter, but the powder is definitely my fav.

Re: Rainbow Glitter please.
I love glitter it's so purty...lol I think I have like 40 different colors. I use and love the shimmer powders when I am in a crunch time situation or for a specific type of look that I want. I use the glitter with the tinyest of dabs of vaseline once I have finished my design and it works great to keep the glitter on and does not smear the paint. I feel way too rushed to try and have to glitter after every color while it's still wet.
