style stix... or not?

Post by dendia on Sat Aug 21, 2010 11:02 pm

hello I'm curious about stile stix, I like the pack that comes with like 3 or 4 different sizes, but are they worth buying? they seem like a time saver if they are worth it where can I get them? b/c SF don't have them anymore.

I bought a pack and have never used them - I just don't have designs that need a circle of that size.

But, my buddy Melissa uses a medium size for Spongebob eyes.

They are firmer than I expected, not soft like a sponge as I expected. This means that they kind of "dent" into your base color.

You can also pick up "flocked" tip (a.k.a. softer) circles in the stamping/stencil area of the craft store. Mine are short and have green handles. But I never use them either!

I, too, bought a pack and have never used them. I just don't think about it. I can't even tell you how good they are... I probably should try them out or something! Rolling Eyes

I bought some at the craft store and use them quite often.
I use the medium one in my split cakes and make peace signs, jewels.
Someone posted on here how to make a jewel efect with them.

Swipe it across a split cake and dab onto skin, slowly turn it a fraction. This blends the colours and gives a nice 3d effect to jewels. Then add highlights.

I find the med. one in my neon arty cake is really popular. Outline in black and add peace symbol with a few swirls and glitter. The girls love it.

I'm not sure what this is? I have mops that are sm, med & lg that I use for jewelry, eyes on characters, etc.

I love the style stix. I use them to do flowers like the ones in this Silly Farm tutorial. They only take about a second, and the results are beautiful. I would say that if you do a lot of flower designs, they are really worth the investment.

OK, I have those! I do use them occasionally, but don't like that the center of the design sometimes will have less paint than the edges.

I like them for dots but i need more. You cant wash them in between uses so once you dip it in one color at a gig, that the only color you can use on it for the rest of the gig.

I just dip them in water & wipe them on a towel. They come pretty clean if you wash them right away. A baby wipe would work too.

my dots with my round brush always get messed up. prehaps a small one for white would be good to have, and if i used it, i could get more sizes.
