Glue for jewels
The little "plastic jewels" come wth a sticky backing that does not hold on facial skin. I want to use them for fairies and princesses. what type of SAFE, child friendly GLUE is available and and where can I purchase it? I am thinking "spirit gum" but not sure how difficult it might be to remove. I am only going to stick on 3=4 jewels.
Re: Glue for jewels
I heard that glue for fake eyelashes work on them. I tried a glue from the dollar store and didn't work. So my advice will be invest on your glue. good luck!

Re: Glue for jewels
I use DUO eyelash adhesive to add gems to my designs!!! I found it in my local cosmetic section. I know that mehron makes a great adhesive called AdGem.. http://www.mehron.com/FPB_Accents_s/99.htm Good luck Hugs Helen

Re: Glue for jewels
A few minutes.... Annie Reynold taught me to dip the back of my brush in the adhesive and pick up your gems with the back of your brush. It is so easy to place even the smallest of gems. I get the itty bitty ones from Oriental Trading Co. http://www.orientaltrading.com/ui/search/processRequest.do?Ntt=jewel&x=0&y=0&requestURI=searchMain&Ntk=all&Ntx=mode%2Bmatchallpartial&N=0 It's called the mini jewel asst. It is $4.99 for 1000 jewels
Re: Glue for jewels
I've also ordered the hearts asst. and the shiny flowers and I like them pretty well. Hugs Helen
Re: Glue for jewels
I just got done testing the Mehron gem glue and good old Glimmer glue (for glitter tattoos). They were on my inner arm (so lots of rubbing) and on day 5 I got so sick of them, that I tore both off. They even went swimming twice and both stayed on for that long, who knows they might have stayed on had I not got tired of them!
So, if you have glitter glue, give that a whirl!

Re: Glue for jewels
I use the glue that comes with the glitter tat kit.
As far as I know it's pretty much the same as eyelash glue - but less expensive to buy in larger amounts.
I do use the sticky back gems to though - I find they stick fine to the dry paint - just not so great on skin.
I would love to buy the Mehron range of swarskofki ( yeah sorry - can't say it let alone spell it) crystals and glue - but I might wait for when I'm a rich and famous to be able to keep myself in stock of those.

Re: Glue for jewels
I was tempted to get the ones with the sticky back the other day but decided not to. The glue on the ones I was looking at is Elmer glue and I am not sure if it's okay for a young child's skin. I went with the eye lash glue. I figure if it's okay to put on that sensitive area then it should be okay for any child's skin.

Thanks I think I have a bottle of glitter with glue so may try that or buy eyelash adhesive...
I really like the photo of the little girl with butter fly face....it looks like a quick design but so pretty....do you have a video on Utube to watch how it is done? May I have your permission to try my hand at a similar version?
Re: Glue for jewels
Not glue with glitter in it.
The special glue you get to make glitter tattoos with.
Don't use craft glitter glue, and glitter gel - for face painting won't work to hold the gems on. You need something like this - http://www.alwayswickedart.com.au/pages/glitter.html
About halfway down the page you will see the body glue and all the glitter tattoo kits.
This supplier is in Australia.

Re: Glue for jewels
I use an eyelash glue in a tube with a brush from revlon. I love it because it's quick to just swipe it on, the consistency is nice, and no animal testing. I hold it on for about 10 seconds and it stays pretty well once it dries (a minute or two.) :]
