Has anyone tried this?

Post by jnjkoz on Thu Aug 26, 2010 10:48 am

It's an article on how to make your own body paints..just wondering if anyone has tried this, how it worked out or if you have another recipe.

Thanks

I wouldn't use that stuff on someone's face.... and the only thing they say for the dye itself is "various food dyes".. does that mean little bottles of food colouring? That stuff stains like crazy. I'm also willing to bet that none of the pictures with the article are using that recipe, most of them from that site aren't.

I agree about not using it on the face Perry, I am curious about using it for body art.

Awesome Suzie I'll await your review! Thanks!!

Long time ago I had an actress that was allergic to Grimas - the brand I was using then - instead I mixed normal skin lotion with food colour. It wasn't as nice or precise as normal makeup, but from a distance you could not see a difference. And she had no problem with it.

Wow, the colors look great in the bowls, I wonder if you need more color? Something with more pigment?

I'd second what jnj said.
I tried those neon colours with icing and wasn't impressed. I haven't used the regular colours of food colouring for years so don't know how they work when I make cupcakes I use Wilton Icing Colour concentrated paste, it can stain the skin even when I'm mixing it up but it is really bright in icing.

The consistency doesn't really look like it would work very well either, though.

well, they said it was for an airbrush, not just brushing it on... don't know how different that would really be though.
