STAINED!!!

Post by Psalmbook on Sun Aug 29, 2010 7:50 am

Oh my goodness!
I've never had much problems w/ staining on my face(nothing a repeated wash couldn't handle). Yesterday I was working all day, so I made a simple eye design using Paradise Amazon Green. It was 10am. I got home at 8pm & went to wash it off. My forehead would not come clean & wherever the green was it was stained. I tried moisturizer; no luck. It finally came off after using a clay based mask from Mary Kay.

Now I'm thinking, I love the color & used it on kids & I hope they didn't go through what I did.... it's out of my traveling kit Sad

I always tell people to use soap directly to reactivate the paint, with no water. Then when it's all gooey again I use a rag to wipe it off then add water to scrub..... I have had wonderful success with this. I'm so sorry for your experience. No fun at all. Green is a beautiful color but it also stains the most. I also tell people if there is any staining, apply moisturizer and go to sleep..... the skin has a way of pushing the paint out during the night.

Use a glycerine based soap - like Pears. The glycerine is also an ingredient in the make-up so it will "reactivate" it thus allowing the pigments to lift off and be washed away.

Clear bars of soap are generally glycerine based.

I think it had a lot to do with me wearing it for almost 10 hours. I just don't want a kid to go home & look like the Hulk for 2 days....

these tips are helpful. my DFX dark blue seems to be incredibly stubborn on my skin (not sure if it's like that on other skin types and colors though). the soap first may work well for me!

When I'm painting my own face and I'm usin a color that can be a little stubborn, I always apply a good quality moisturizer to my face first and allow it to dry. I only use oil free moisturizers because I can not stand a greasy or oily feeling face. I've had a lot of luck doing this, but applying the moisturizer fist, none of the colors seem to stain my skin, and easily wash away.

If you are going to be wearing paint that long, I would suggest purchasing a long lasting foundation with and spf of at least 15. Clinique has some great options. I have found that putting on foundation before I paint myself helps the paint to wear better and prevents staining.

If you are worried about using particular colors on kids - try putting a silver base underneath - the silver never stains and it stops the really bright colors getting into the pores.
It works for me.

Ok so I read the thread a couple days ago and was well aware of the staining issue, but what did I just do. I was watching tv, just painting away on my face just to practice and boy did amazon green just look so pretty sitting next to me. I didn't even think about the staining issue because I was distracted and guess who is now walking around with the shape of a dinosaur wrapping from her cheek to over her eye? Yes it is me in all my glory! I'm so mad at myself right now. What makes it so much worse is a long time friend of my husbands is visiting us right now and they will be home any minute right now. I can't wait to try to explain this to a guy I barely know!

Yikes. I will take that into consideration when I am buying my full sized paradise paints.

I always lay a base of snaz gold or silver under the greens, blues and teals that stain. (For me the snaz teal stains the worst.)

LOL! Whitney! But I so love the amazon green. I'll def. try the silver or gold base, because I really don't want to "fire" those wonderful colors from my kit.

Especially under green, blue and yellow paints I use Under Make-up base of Grimas or cake make-up of Grimas.
