Re: About to make some paradise splits
I finished my splits last night(yay!). It was a much easier process than I thought it was going to be. The first one was a bit difficult, as I was only using an exacto knife to cut the paints and lift them out. Needless to say, they broke like crazy. I live with my parents because I am trying to save money to stay in school, and my dad came into the dining room to ask what I was doing. When I told him he disappeared into the garage and then came back with these several minutes later:

He actually made them for me, and they work fantastic. The picture doesn't do them justice though, but it was the best I could get. After he brought them to me and I sterilized them, the made the process ever so much quicker. I was done within an hour.
So, without further ado, here is the finished product:

Some were inspired by other splits, some I came up with on my own. All are amazing.
Here are the swipes:

And the last two that were on the other side of my arm:

(Sorry about the glare, and yes, I am that pale)
I think that this is enough splits for me, so I am going to sell all of the leftover paints in the swapshop. Thank you guys for all of your help. What do you think?

Re: About to make some paradise splits
they came out great!
very pretty!
I just use a regular sharp henkel knife for making splits. I also have a new ceramic knife that I know is going to work GREAT for that. gotta try it!

Nice combos!
I just use an old steak knife... I don't care if they crack, most don't.

Looks great!!! I can't believe you got that many colors in the tiny circles!
Re: About to make some paradise splits
It was actually really easy. I just pre-sliced all of the paints into rows of five or six, then lifted them out, cleaned the palette, and shoved the new colors in.
Re: About to make some paradise splits
PRETTY!!!!! Splits always make me happy inside:D
Why are you selling the leftovers? Keep them to fill in as your splits wear down.

You really need to rethink selling the leftovers....unless you don't plan on using the splits that you made. How are you going to refill them if you don't have any leftovers?
I say keep them and use them to refill the containers as you use them.
Wonderful job on making up the cakes too. I see they are pressed together tight so that no water seeps inbetween to muddy it up. you are a great split maker for sure. I love the color combination's too.

Re: About to make some paradise splits
I too think you should keep the leftovers because you will use those up fast at that size.. But maybe you plan to get full sized for your fav color combos?

Re: About to make some paradise splits
That is exactly what I plan on doing. I am ordering all of my full size colors this week and will eventually make bigger splits from those.
Re: About to make some paradise splits
They look so yummy. I agree keep your left overs to remake more splits. Fantastic work
