New Wolfe book - Extreme Face Painting

Post by MichelleLA on Tue Aug 31, 2010 1:25 am

Has anyone seen this book yet? When I spoke to Brian last month he indicated that there is more detailed instructions for the designs (compared to their previous cheat books)

Link: Extreme Face Painting: 50 Friendly & Fiendish Step-by-Step Demos

I'm thinking of ordering it and I'd love to hear if anyone has seen it yet?
Thanks,

Michelle

Looks like it is mostly just a remake of all of their designs from previous books... Not sure I wanna buy instructions for the same designs over again?

Inside the book:

It seems to be some new faces also. And I heard it also include a DVD? That one I would like to see =)

Just saw on the last page that it is only two videos.. I think I will wait till I have a chance to see the book in real life before buying. As Ashley say, no reason to buy designs you already have =)

Hmm... I checked it out. It does look like the designs from their other books and others are pretty close to the stuff in Creative Faces that they did as well.

As with all books... I'll wait until I can physically pick it up in my hand to check out.

I received my copy this morning. It would be really good for someone starting out as it looks to be alot of fundamentals such as creating texture and shadows, brush strokes, etc. There are 50 different designs with written instructions and step-by-step pics. It looks like a lot of the designs have been 'simplified' from other books I've seen of theirs. I'm definitely going to use it as it will be great for teaching my apprentices. I can also use the designs, although I may have to change them up a bit here and there.

I ordered mine from amazon.com. I have amazon prime so the 2-day shipping was free. Ordered it on Wednesday and it arrived this morning Smile

I haven't watched the DVD yet... will try to watch it later and let you know what's on it.

as someone who's just starting out with painting (and hasn't bought any books yet) - this sounds like it might be a good starting point do ya think?

Definitely! I haven't bought a lot of books but this is absolutely a great book to me.... it has basic brush strokes, working with a sponge, shading and shadowing and highlighting, and faces from simple to very detailed and complex. But the best part- the DVD! There are 2 demonstrations from Nick and Brian- painting a very detailed skull and then a gorgeous Mardi Gras mask. To me, the DVD was worth the cost of the book! I've never had the opportunity to attend a class with the Wolfe Brothers, so this was great getting to watch their techniques and explaining how and why they do what they do as they're doing it. I've already watched it twice and I'll probably be watching many more times. They are so good with a sponge! I can only dream of getting that good!

I'm also just starting out although have bought other books but I just got my copy and it IS a good book with a whole bunch of pages on basic brush and other techniques. Some of which I learned from Brian at a recent seminar but it is really nice to have something to refer back too. As a pp mentioned you can see a bunch of preview pages on Amazon \

Whooo hoooo just received mine!! It is good, it actually explains step by step. Not like previous books that just show the pics..It does have a like 2-4 designs from previous books , some of them with modifications. Other than that the book is worth the price! I bought it from Amazon, the only place I found it less than $18..Everywhere else $25-$18..
