Re: New Wolfe book - Extreme Face Painting

Post by Sam on Wed Sep 15, 2010 10:11 am

Had a chance to sit down with it last night, and I love it. Great photos, love the 8 1/2 x 11 size, sponging tips and brush stroke help. Some faces would put me way over my 5 min per face goal, but may be a jumping off point for my own quick version.
The DVD has the green skull face featured on the front cover and a metallic mardi gras mask, and it's terrific. I just love to watch them paint anyway, they are so awesome.
As someone else had mentioned earlier, there are a few "repeat" faces, and that is really the only thing I did not like about this book.
For me, it was totally worth the $16.49 I paid for it on Amazon.
I brought it to work with me to look at again at lunch. Smile

LOL! I guess that's the upside of not being married...haha.

That's totally what happened when I read about you guys getting Pashur's Spider book - so I wrote to him and got my copy a couple of days ago - I've already had light bulb moments, just looking through it once!

Also...Amazon just wrote to tell me my copy of the Wolfe book is on it's way! I don't have any of their others, so if there are repeats, I won't know, let alone mind.

Hey I missed that discussion about Pashur's spider book. I've just done a search for it on the forum & can't find anything. Can anyone help me here please.

I got my copy about three days ago...And I LOVE it!!! I could paint before but now my work will be changed forever! I love the breakdown of the designs and the detailed descriptions, makes the designs very easy to accomplish. I also love the bonus video that comes with it...It is like having nick and brian teach you in your own home, I would recomend this book def.!!
Here are some pics of my attempts from the book

Very cool brkvail!!

Mandi -- did Brian and Nick teach the 3D technique that is on page 17
in their class? I wish there was a step by step for the sea horse on page 18 (can be viewed at the "search inside" link here.

How was your workshop? Please share Smile

Hi Michelle,

Yes they did teach the 3D technique, mostly on scars, wounds with stitches & fish hook.

My 2 day workshop with them was like 10 billion times better than I could have ever dreamt. They are so giving of their skills & themselves. Their idea that they have a spiritual enlightening with a twist of face painting in their workshops was inspiring. I have also read alot of the books that they were discussing - Wayne Dyer, Deepak Chopra, Louise L Hay. Wayne Dyer has a saying - how may I serve - & they live this totally.
Anyone of us at the course only needed to ask how do you do......or would you show me......& they were right there slowly showing step by step pausing for us to take photo's & making sure that we all could recreate the technique shown. And if someone did a recreation & said on no that's no good, they'd come closer & say hey that's great or if you just add this etc.

The course times were 10am till 4pm yet we were still painting away at 6:30pm. Their passion for what they do just oozes out of them & it's very catchy. Meaning I've come home obsessed with painting. After day one we all went out to dinner at Hog's Breathe Cafe`which was such a blast as the boys had painted us all before going out. Yay did I have fun scaring people with my face - 1/2 ripped of skin look - . Even when I went back to my hotel that night the guy at reception said he thought after he'd looked at me oh that poor unfortunate woman. Which just made me giggle.

After our second day we all stayed back at Amy Grigg's place (where the course was held) to have a BBQ & a couple of drinks whilst we all continued to have a jam. AWESOME.. I even got to try BBQ'd crocodile, mmmm tastes like chicken.

Overall I would say if you are ever considering doing a Wolfe Bros course dón't hesitate just do it. You'll be so glad you did. Laughing

Ditto for me -- while I'd love to be painted by the fantastic instructors that I've taken classes with, but I learn best through watching and taking pictures, which I can't do when I'm sitting as the model, so I guess I'll need to become a much better painter before I feel that I can sit and be painted.

Here is my daughter painted by one of the Wolfe boys at the 2009 FABAIC convention in Orlando...don't know which one it was tho. He came to me an asked if he could take may daughter's hair down out of her pony tails, to which I proceeded to ask why and who are you???? He said I am an artist and have a booth here at the convention. Angel begged me to let her do it and voila.

You could always model for them & get a friend to take the step by step photo's for you. We all did this at the Sydney course, there were even times when one person had 2 or 3 camera's. Which we thought was funny, as though they were like the paparatzi (sp?).
