Mettalics????

Post by wmeventservices on Wed Sep 08, 2010 9:55 pm

I need metallic blue, purple, green, red and orange. I don't want any of them to look like pastels. I want them to look like primary colors. What is the best brand for each color as I know they all differ?

I have DFX in all those colors & love all of them except the red(I do like it, but it's really more fuschia). Paradise Metallic Red is awesome.

I've been window shopping for metallics, too. I'm pretty sure I'll be buying the DFX. I've asked around and those seem to be the boldest. I've heard the Paradise can go on thin. I guess it depends on the application you will be using. I use sponges most of the time, but I plan to use them more for jewelry.

Yes, Paradise does go on a bit thin, but can be worked with. It is the only true metallic red that I can think of. The DFX line of metallix is really nice to work with. It is effortless, but the red and the green aren't true primary colors per say.

I really like all Paradise paints...not only are they easy to work with but I for one, actually like the tropical smell of them. Also, to me they don't dry with that annoying tightness on the skin. I'm happy with their metallics, with a little work and patience you will get the hang of any brand pretty quickly.

The Snaz Spark/Metallics will only give you a sheen of mettallic unless you apply several coats. The DFX is the most opaque with min. effort, then paradise, then Snaz.

Paradise Metallic Red doesn't go on sheer at all. It's very bold. Silver is pretty shear, but can be worked into a deeper color w/ practice. I agree that the tightness of dfx/wolfe is a bit like getting a mud facial Very Happy
Some kids can find it a bit annoying. Paradise & Snaz don't do that.
It's been a while since I've used any Snaz metallics, so I'm not sure about the coverage. It didn't seem to cover well, but it may have been due to my lack of experience & not the quality of the paint.

I posted a photo of the Snaz Sparkles on another thread about white metallics... the red is nice but rosy.

Not in those colors - but I have the snaz sparkle pink and I would not call that metallic - the DFX metalic pink kicks it's butt 1oo times over in vibrancy - the sparkle is nice for a pretty sheer princessy base - I honestly hardly ever use it.

I love the snaz sparkle red for spidey bases and the sparkle green for monster mask bases. The boys love the fact that it looks like 'car paint' and it goes on and comes off really easily.

I really favor Wolfe's Metallics myself. I'm not crazy about snaz cause the colors don't have the pop for me that i like. Paradise is my second choice they are almost as good as well I and the kids really like the coconut smell.

Shannon, I remember seeing your pic in the previous thread. That is what got me considering using snaz sparkles instead of going to Wolfe. I have all of the Paradise ones, but they don't make all the colors I need and their blue is terrible. The green is beautiful, but it stains pretty bad.
