Lion trouble.

Post by Tash on Thu Sep 09, 2010 10:18 pm

I have been asked to do a design submission for a job at the Zoo.
I have looked and looked for a (male) Lion design that I could learn from - but I can't find anything I like.
I like Shannon's lion but it's female - or at least maybe a young cub like in the lion king - but I need a full maned lion because the company has a lion as it's logo.
I don't want to steal anyone's designs outright - I really want to come up with my own by incorperating design elements that I like - but I can't find anything.
I'm going to give it a shot now - on myself*sigh - but I would appreciate any help anyone can offer me.
I'll post the result here - bad or good.
Thanks friendlies.
xx

What does the logo look like? Can it be transformed for a full face design?

Female? It's a cougar silly! Oh... hmm... maybe cougar isn't the right term. How about Mountain Lion! It is on a boy.

I have several lions all on males...

Face I painted on myself. The design is from a Wolfe Book. It's in my gallery.

Here is my lion.... (or maybe its a hedgehog Wink )

I think incorporating the models hair as part of the mane helped it a bit... teasing it a little Razz

Thank-you everybody for your help.
As a said I would I painted it on myself..... I made a multitude of mistakes..... The black for the nose is way to big and too far down.... and the forehead is not big enough because I was trying to leave room for the mane.

I wish my daughter would let me paint her but she's being difficult.
I didn't want to post this but I said I would... so 'ere tis.
The next one will be better..... here's hoping.

Here's what the logo looks like.
I'm thinking I'm going to simplify the face above.

I like it!
I did my 1st lion the other day. It's based off a pic I saw somewhere, but was painted from memory. The mane extends down the sides of the face, but I didn't get it in the pic.

The first time I did a face, I did a lion using a Video from YouTube doing a lion from "Cats."

Just remember this was my very first time ever doing face paint. I used one of those kits from Walmart. Razz I did make the outfits! Smile

Not bad for Walmart paint!
My 1st "face Painting" was 22 yrs ago Halloween & was "Cats". I went as a Cat from Cats & my oldest was a Kitten(she was 2 yrs old). It was also Walmart paint. I wish I had a picture of it now to see what it really looked like. Who knew I'd be doing it all the time!

Ok so i wanted to post my lion but didnt want to start a new topic, this is my very first lion. I like the muzzle on it but really really hate the way i have done the eyes, does anyone have any suggestions that would make this look better? I think the mane can do with a lot more work too. And i realise now i forgot the ears too...next time i'll try to remember. I also dont have any tan paint yet so had to improvise with white and brown

(holy crap! frizzy hair much?)

Tash do you have the last Wolfe brothers book or have access to one? They have a full maned lion in that book. Actually someone on here painted it on themselves, and used to have it as their avatar a while ago. I don't remember who it was. if anyone else does please chime in.

They did that look on my daughter at FABAIC 2009, I can post a pic if you'd like to see it

but it definitely was an adult lion face
