body painters help please...

Post by SuzySparkles on Wed Sep 22, 2010 2:58 pm

I am going to paint a body as a 'sex on the beach' drink.... Where would you place this exactly? I am having trouble painting glass as well... the colors on the drink are easy for me as well as the fruit.... but the glass is tough and thinking of the placement is tough as well... I think I will do the surrounding areas in a tropical type scene. Any ideas, thoughts, etc?

I think if you follow the lines of the glass, it looks like the front view of a woman. The red bottom is her belly, up the sides is the waiste and the breasts are the top of the drink, straws and pineapple.

I would love to see pics (if you can)

I would outline the glass in grey or black and then add the white reflections so it looks "glassy".

You could do like glitterfly suggested, but make the glass end just below the breasts... one boob could be painted in the umbrella, and the other could be a person drinking. Like the breast forms the jaw line. Could be cute/funny. I might tilt the glass some in that case, but it's just a thought.

It looks exactly like a womans body to me as well. If you did the red down to the hips, as they are rounded in shape, you could do the stem of the glass on the legs of the model. You could paint the umbrella onto one shoulder and the straws up the models neck, or down her arm on the other shoulder.

Experiment on yourself, paint glasses, to see what you like best for the colouring of the actual glass. Maybe blues, grays, whites, etc...

side note *"sex on the beach" cocktails is a shooter here Smile

I would start by lining up the cherry on a breast and follow the lines down around the belly. It will leave some space on her sides, but could easily be filed with the design you were thinking of.

Whatever you use for the glass color, grey or white I think the Mehron opal shimmer power would look great on top of it...it would give it an iridescent glass color to it. Even putting the opal shimmer all over the color part of the drink might make it look like a frosted glass look. Test it out Wink ...I looove the opal shimmer.

I like the breast as the cherry idea and I think it would be cute if the model actually held one of those asian umbrellas...you see them all the time at street fairs for sale here. They look just like the drink umbrellas but bigger Razz . Not sure if you have seen them but it would be cute. Very Happy

I see it on a woman's back... the bulb of the glass is the bottom of the model...

I like the parasol idea!

I think you need to off-center the glass a bit & have the stem go down one leg. It looks a little weird where the legs meet the privates. I'd put the parasol on one shoulder, the pineapple & cherry on the breast & the straw going across the other side. Placement of the top of the glass would depend on how "uhum" well she's developed(you don't want the "girls" dipping into the glass Very Happy Have you seen your model yet?

Look at lots of glass photos & practice reflective patterns till you find one you like.
Congrats on the body painting. Can't wait to see the final results!

Suzy, That is the back view right?

I agree, I'm having a little trouble with the placement of the stem.

I think your design would be more dynamic if you shrank down the whole glass and tilted it slightly. You could have a little beachscape peeking out on either side of the glass.

You could start the sand at the down on the legs, transition to water just below the bum, and then go to the sunset sky about halfway up which would go great with the drink colors.

By the way, How exciting to get to do a body gig like this!

This is the front view... On the back I am just doing plain old colors. Did I mention that there is only 5 hours allotted for the painting, hair AND makeup?????? Shocked Her hair is going to be blue extensions shaped into an umbrella type dealie I guess. So I guess I just don't get much time (and this is my first body painting) so I am spazzing. I have a friend coming over today to let me practice on her (thankfully) and if she lets me snap a photo I will show you guys to see what u think of the actual body painting on a body instead of a quick sketch on my arm. I have decided to tilt the cup so we will see how that goes. ::deep breath::

Deep breaths are good Very Happy

No matter how good you do, you'll probably be disappointed, BUT everyone who sees it will go gaga, so just take it in stride.

All this worrying, planning and practicing will definitely pay off since you will have seen the challenges once you get to actually put paint to skin on your friend today.

How did you get this gig and is the model going to be walking around?

its a bar... they are holding a mixed drink HAIR fashion show... so the local hair salons are doing drink inspired hair designs... the particular hair salon that found me (not sure how) is adding the drink body paint to go along with the hair... not sure if other salons are doing that as well...
