You will be surprised at how proud you will be of your design...even if you just *know* you won't win Smile

I might just get the paints out and have a go later. Ive no one to practise on though, or take pics of Sad

it'll have to be on myself, and im rubbish at doing that too Sad

Here is my Halloween Butterfly. I painted it last night, and I had to use the flash. My daughter doesn't like the flash, but she loves being painted which does NOT show in these pictures *LOL*. She makes the funniest faces when she tries to not close her eyes when the flash comes Wink.

Everyone's is so amazing that I just keep going "wow"- "wow"!!!!
Here is mine, I've been playing with my bruise wheel - still learning how to blend but I love it!
It was my first attempt at trying to shadow - so there's a photo of my hand, where I was trying to blend.
Bruise butterfly

steps: Using my finger I applied the red, blue, green and purple- after applying each I blended untilthe bruise looked 'real'. Then I used the chisel for the wings as a shadow, then darker outline. I added small lines with the round #2.

Yay polkadot that's brilliant. I'm waiting on a Ben Nye bruise wheel that I've ordered can't wait to have a play with it.

Ok so here's my Australian Flutterflag:

Photobucket

Materials used: Snaz sparkle blue, Snaz red, TAG white
#2, #4, #6 round brushes.
I painted the outline of the butterfly & painted the stars first as I've run out of my Wolfe white & the TAG white doesn't go over colours as well as Wolfe white does.

Great entry for your first - far out!
The bar is rising!
I got a little unmotivated after I saw Lisa's awesome entry - but I have been re-inspired and I'm off to make another butterfly.

How any entries already??? Think we will set a record here peeps!
Keep em coming!

First time

Post by posterchild on Wed Oct 13, 2010 9:17 pm

This is my first challenge, so here goes. My Rudolph-tangled-in-the-christmas-lights-butterfly (use your imagination for the butterfly shape!)

[/img] Used: TAG paints (Brown, Light blue, teal, pearl white, yellow, pearl pink, black) and Wolfe white. Sponge, no. 4 round, no. 0 round, no. 12 body chisel, mops and daubers of different sizes.
Step 1. Sponge on pearl white butterfly-wing shaped base and paint antlers using body chisel no. 12. Paint red nose and sprinkle with glitter if you like.

Step 2. Using your largest mop, lightly apply almost dry white circles, using a slightly smaller mop lightly lay a circle of your chosen bulb colors on top of the white to give a glowing effect.

Step 4. Using a smaller dauber, lay an opaque circle of corresponding colors on top of the "glows" to creat the bulbs. Paint the christmas lights' connectors and wires using your large round and black paint.

[img]Step 5. Highlight your bulbs and wires with white, outline with black and add as many starbursts and snowflakes as you like. Laughing

Here's another entry my Demon flutterby:

Photobucket
outline with Snaz red

Photobucket
fill in with snaz red & paint pitch fork in snaz black

Photobucket
outline with snaz black

Photobucket
With snaz black do some shading with a sponge & with TAG white paint horns on

Photobucket
Add line details with snaz black, highlight on the pitch fork with gun metal grey, highlight with a white sponge above eyes & on cheek bones.Using liner brush create cracks in horns & add snaz cake blood to pitch fork. Paint lips snaz cake blood outline with snaz black using liner brush & dribble some cake blood from the corner of the mouth.

Materials used: Snaz red, black, cake blood & TAG white
#3 round & #1 liner brush, sponge

I got my son to model for me as he has such expression. Although he does have a problem with me painting under his eyes.

Photobucket
