Apron or no Apron?

Post by Tracalla on Sun Oct 03, 2010 10:03 pm

Do you guys wear an apron when you paint? If so, where do you get them and what are they like? I'm not a messy painter, but thinking maybe an apron would help me hold money, business cards and other supplies. What do you guys think?

I don't wear an apron. I have a cute business card holder that a friend gave me for my birthday & use a money tin kept hidden very close to me.
I do wear all black in case of a mess, generally I'm pretty good it's just my fingers that get messy I'm currently investigating higher density sponges to prevent this problem.

I don't wear an apron either, but I might just try it sometime to see how it goes. You can get some half-aprons with interesting prints when the gardening stuff comes out in the spring.

I don't use an apron, but sometimes use a waitress money apron if it's a PPF event. I got it from my last waitress job 10 yrs ago Very Happy

When I taught art I bought an apron at Michael's & designed it myself w/ fabric paint.

I wear one. It's easier for me to wipe my hands on it than trying to look for a towel or papertowel to wipe them on while I am painting. My aunt bought me one from New Zealand, very colorful and I just embellished it with more with fabric paint for my company name.

I am working on a half apron that I am sewing myself out of black material. I plan to bling that one. lol!

I have an apron with two money-sized zipper pockets that I bought from Jodi Carr a few years ago. My business name is embroidered on the front and I love it. I can fold it under and use it as a waist apron when I don't want to mess with the bib part around my neck.

I wear one! I have several that I switch back and forth between... I like to wear them because it denotes me automatically as "the face painter" or "the balloon lady." I like to clip fun pins and brooches to them, and I keep stuff like cards and money in them.

I mostly make my own, it's really easy.. and I have different ones for different occasions. I have a black one that is an a-line with a sweetheart neckline up top that I wear for formal events, and I have a funky hot pink one made with sparkly vinyl for parties.. and I have one with a big applique of a paint palette... it's good times! love my aprons! I feel nekkid without them...

Ashley - wearing clothes would stop that naked feeling, silly! Haha I kid.

If I'm doing PPF/B I wear one - I have a black on JBax sent me for a Swap (yay!) and a pink one with flowers that I made to go with a rag doll costume. If I don't need to deal with money but I'm at a public event, I've got a lululemon ...fanny pack. Yes, I said fanny pack. But it's pretty sleep! It's actually their dog walker's bum bag or something, haha.

http://shop.lululemon.com/pd/p/1872.html I got the purple, and it was at the outlets - so $15, not $48!

I wear an apron, but it is mainly because I am a clutz. Embarassed I have lots of different ones, some with holiday themes, others just a solid color. Some I have purchased, some have been made for me. I like the ones made of dark colored lightweight canvas best. They wash up nice and aren't too hot in the summer.

We definitely wear aprons, embroidered with our logo, with deep pockets for money, camera, etc. It automatically separates us and shows that we are the painters. Right now we have blue, red and green, but we're making some bright orange ones for the corn maze we're working at, because their official color is orange Wink

I only use a waitress money apron when I have to move around and do balloon twisting. I keep all of my supplies in the apron. I tried it out for my brushes before and hated it. I ended up bending over and painting all over my stomach.

I wear one..! I have 3 black ones that I used when I used to work at some cafeteria..They were plain black and I just bought those fuzzy alphabet words on Michael's place them and transfer them with the iron...They all say Face Painter, and I use all kinds of pins, specially a big one that says Tips are welcome...
I like them cuz I can just wear any shirt any color, any Jeans and don't worried about messing my clothes I also think it looks good..I just got me a shirt with my logo we'll see how it looks... Very Happy

I wear one. I make them myself and they're very easy. I have a few to choose from, depending on my mood. Very Happy I basically wear black or white and then brighten it up a bit with a colorful apron. Also helps to keep my clothes cleaner.

I have a waitress style one I picked up at FABAIC, and golly I don't remember who the vendor was. I have another that's a full apron with lots of pockets, got it from a catering supply place. I'm always wiping my fingers on it, and I keep my money, business cards, camera, keys, and my water spray bottle in it.
