New to serious face painting.

Post by Fiona on Fri Oct 08, 2010 8:22 am

Hi all,

Im quite new to face painting, and new to forums and how they work. I have painted kids faces on and off over the years but have never taken it to seriously. People always comment on my work and say wow. But my stuff is nothing compared to the work you guys do!!! Its amazing, i have learned sooooo much already! Thankyou!!
I painted my own face for the first time today and i would love some feedback (good and bad).
Im still learning how to upload pics, so im sorry if its a link.
Thanks Fiona Smile

It is very pretty. The blending is really well done. Just work on your line work. Try and make the lines and tear drops more flowing.
Great job and welcome.

Your swirls and lines look wonderful and the butterfly shape is beautiful - you have a confidence that really makes it work! The only part I can see that need practice are the tear drops. Just sit down, pull out your thighs (LOL) and practice doing like 100 at a time. Literally. Once you get those down, WOW, you will be incredible!!!!

Thankyou!! I have 2 little girls and when i pull out my paints with a new idea or for a practice i can almost see them rolling their eyes. lol. They get sick of having their faces done!! I find it really hard to do my own face though!
Do you guys know a good place to get practise heads from?
Again thanks for the feedback. Smile

Hi Fiona, there's a place in Ferntree Gully called Looney Bin that stock them.
I found my girls (Melissa & Corinne) at op shops, they are old hairdressing ones

Bribe them Wink Real skin is so much better to practice on. I have several practice pads and I never use them. I just tell the kids we will do something special after I'm done. I just do one face and not push it.

I know that Lisa Young has a great video on Youtube about how to get your business started. She lists some of the basic designs you really need to know. Check it out:
