Need stock advice

Post by rthling on Fri Oct 08, 2010 8:23 pm

I've been poking around here for a few days now, and have learned so much from everyone.
I'm going to be working a church fall festival on Halloween, so I need to get more paint. So far, I've been getting by with a snazaroo palate and a few refills. It's time to get serious, in or out, so to speak.
What I need to know is which white and black do y'all prefer for line work, and why? I understand that snaz isn't the best, but it does the job. I want something that makes clean lines, white that is bright, even over colors. And also, which gold and silver works best?
I'll be picking up some sponges, but I already have some pretty decent brushes.

Thanks for the advice!

I like dfx for white and black lines, but I also use paradise black for lines and bases on kids and adults and snaz black for everything on the little kids. I go through a lot of snaz white for bases but don't really use it for a lot of lines. The right amount of water for the paint makes a big difference as does good brushes and knowing how to use them on the line work. Jodi Carr is a supplier for fantasy worldwide sponges, they're great, I also cut up yellow peanut shaped car wash sponges.
There have been lots of threads lately about silver and gold, type them into the search bar to see what people are saying.
Have fun! I know I do.

I use Snazaroo for everything, I'm allergic to DFX/Wolfe and I can't stand the smell of Paradise. But whatever works for you.

DFX white & black are great for linework. For gold DFX is good & if you add a little Mehron powder, it's ta die for! I've yet to find a great silver... but I get by with DFX silver. I love paradise for the base. Best of all, you can get it all here in the forum shop. Metina has awesome customer service, great prices & the cheapest shipping & handling & her shipping is so fast we all believe she has super powers cheers

I'm assuming you mean the essential white? Or is there another kind?
I was thinking about getting snaz for base and DFX for lines.

Yes, DFX essential white. DFX metallic white makes a great base, but not so good for lines.

Congrats on the gig! I'm doing a church festival soon, too. It's suppose to be even bigger this yr! So much fun Smile

I love DFX white! I purchased mine from Metina here. I also love Wolfe and Paradise colors. You can get Wolfe and Paradise at Silly Farm, but Metina is faster Wink I tend to use Rainbow cakes more then anything these days.

You may want to try the small basic palette from DFx and from Wolfe...That way you can really sample their colors if you dont know which ones you like best.

I love using certain colors from different lines for certain things in paradise and I like some in wolfe and some in snaz. I Really love Using the arty cake.
