Using a chisel edge brush for butterflies...

Post by posterchild on Wed Oct 13, 2010 7:23 pm

So many questions about butterflies!

Here's mine. I just bought a small chisel tipped brush to do the feathery edges on butterflies, now I need to know how to do it. Up to now I have been using a round and blending it!

Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks! What a Face

I use a chisel brush for a lot of my work. I like it because you can vary your lines so easily with it. I use it a couple of ways to make a little more ornate butterfly. I make a varied outline around the wings and then lay it flat and ease up on the brush to give it a blended look. I sometimes use the sides to sort of "wiggle" extra lines for more depth. Or if it is for something more realistic looking then I add more detail with my round line brushes in various widths. Would really like to know how some other people do it so I can maybe get some tips. I love butterflies!
