Carnival Theme

Post by Fancy Faces with a Twist on Sun Nov 14, 2010 4:58 pm

I am so excited about a carnival theme party I am doing next weekend. It is for a 4 year olds b-day. I have done a basic clown face on my husband. But I would love to do some special clowns for the kiddos. So of course I am going blank!
some of the ideas I had before blanking out...
*stars shapes for eyes
*hearts for cheeks
and....................that's it Sad Question

Hearing some of your clown or carnival ideas would really make my day!! sunny

*I have googled, not alot there

I think I may have gotten this from the Snaz site... (sorry, can't remember the artist) it's the cutest little clown I've ever seen. Smile

ooh thanks for these ideas!
Angie love that simple design especially for this age group.

Paint and glitter ~I was thinking of doing rainbow cheeks with my dotter sponge. Didn't even think to do the eyes and nose as well. hee-hee I like this Smile

Snaz site has a clown page.

Get a basic boy clown & girl clown down & then just change the colors. They most likely are going to want the basics: butterflies, princesses, spidey guys & tigers Very Happy

i think some of the clown designs that seem ok on little ones would be truly frightening on a real clown.... but the kids seem to like it. I've had a few kids ask me to paint them with my face....

I am kind of freaked out by clowns too - interesting to read the psychology behind that phobia - but I think both your clowns are adorable. Love the balloons!

coulrophobia - the fear of clowns.

My sister is afraid of clowns actually. There are some clowns who argue that it doesn't really exist. While there are many people who say they are afraid of clowns right now and aren't really (it has somehow become cool to be afraid of clowns recently), you can tell the real phobias from the silly people. If they are genuinely afraid, they will NOT go anywhere near a clown, they will turn and go the other way no matter what. They will not stand there talking to a clown saying "you're freaking me out, man!" (yes, I've heard this from some crazy stoned teenagers). Phobias are real and they don't need to make sense, but if it isn't an extreme fear, then it's not a phobia... you just don't like it.

I have many phobias (hence the name Perry Noia... it was a nickname in university). When confronted with any of them, it is a serious problem for me. I'm not afraid of (most) clowns on looks alone.

My friend is clown phobic. He will run into walls to get away from them (no really, I saw him do it once when "surprised" at an event we went to). I felt so bad for him.

I...I am phobic of dentists. Seriously.

You should all look into EMDR. It's a great treatment for phobias. My DH does it. Here's some good info on it (although I have issue with the fact that they call it a "new therapy") since it has been around quite awhile. http://www.emdr-therapy.com/emdr.html

Are there any other things besides clowns that go with a "carnival" theme?

I have seen a face painted pic of a guy with popcorn and that red and white popcorn box painted on his face. It looked so neat! I don't know where I saw it, but perhaps Googling it will turn it up? It was very "different"...

Carnival or Circus? If it's more circus, you have elephants, tigers, lions, etc.

Off topic: spiders freak me out & I become a blubbering idiot when the surprise me.
