I created a (gasp) facebook page!

Post by rthling on Sun Nov 14, 2010 8:50 pm

I have been inspired by many of you to work on a website. Unfortunately, I don't have many pictures of the faces I've painted. I'm waiting on someone to release some to me... Rolling Eyes
But meanwhile, I've decided to jump in with both feet and create a facebook page. It was so easy, I almost cried! Now I can add photos whenever, and people can tag me in theirs, which will give me permission to use them. I'm super STOKED!

I "Liked" your page.

This is mine:

I like the way you can re-post your photo album when you add a new photo. It just keeps you popping up on your fans' walls.

I loves all the liking goin on... I'll add mine too. Most of my new work gets posted through FB first. But, be warned... most of my stuff is body art lately.

Mine is set up as a fan page. Not sure what the difference is between that and a group.
I have found it a good way to market to people.

Woo Hoo I joined all of your pages. You can look mine up right under my signature below if you like Smile

Just an FYI on "Pages" which I mentioned on another thread. Is that you can NOT get notifications. Their are tons of threads on this subject begging facebook to add this feature. But there is an App for it that someone created called "Page Notifier" You can get a daily update via email of your activity on your page. You can get it more often (4 times a day, once an hour) But you have to pay for that. Once a day is free and that's better then nothing as far as what I need.

I set mine up as a page versus a group. With a page, you get stats about who has visited, liked, and re-visited your page on a weekly basis.

I don't recall how I got the link on my website, but I do remember I had to use the help feature to figure it out!
Hopefully someone else can be more helpful.

I added three face book pages and notice there is quite a bit of interest in all of them. Great for advertising your FP business, too!

Happy Painting,
Susan

Psalm, you need a page versus a group, and the code for the FB like button is one of the tabs on the page when you're in edit mode.

Go to your page, scroll to the very bottom (right I think) click "Badge" or "Create badge" ...I can't look it up on my iPhone right now.

I couldn't figure out the badge thing. When I went to it, it was for other peoples pages, but not for mine. I'm a bit confused.

WM, you linked to your personal page, not a business page, that may be why you don't have the ability to create a badge.

See if this link works for you to create a page for your business:

WM, the badge thing on Facebook just gives you the snippet of code that you can then put on other websites.

So for example, for my own website, I picked the choice of "other", and it gave me the bit of code that I inserted into my website's HTML - so now there is this button on my website that encourages people to find (and hopefully "like"!) me on Facebook:
http://www.fabtastic.ca/contact.html

Rthling, thanks for starting this thread - it prompted me to set up my FB page, I worked on it yesterday and today. I've only invited a couple friends to look at it so far, but I can certainly see where it would be a great tool! Very Happy
Here's mine: http://www.facebook.com/fabtasticfaceandbodyart

Edited: oh yes Pandora is right, for a personal page I don't think you can create a badge.

Thanks guys. I use that page only for business so I am not likely to create another one and try to build up my contacts again. I want opinions though. Does it make that big of a difference to set it up as a business page?
