Snazaroo paint feels "itchy"

Post by aussiemarie on Sun Nov 28, 2010 12:43 am

This weekend I did several full face designs (spiderman, cheetah) with my Snazaroo paint for base and added top details with Diamond FX paint. I applied the base by sponge. When finished two of the kids said their skin felt "itchy". Wondering if this was just as it was drying or if perhaps it was sponged too thickly on or some other reason. They weren't complaining but it made we want to ask the experts on the forum....

Kids (and everyone else) tend to feel itchy in any place that they know they can't touch. Razz

I'd guess that it was just the paints drying... Did the second one happen to hear the first one say that it was itchy?

Were the children siblings? If they were, they would probably have similar reactions. Having a reaction to Snaz is rare, but not impossible.

A lot of kids say that. I have had kids who's eyes started watering before I'd even touched them. They had a reaction to the anticipation of getting painted Very Happy
Sometimes, if I have paint on my face it'll tickle.

It's the little hairs on their skin on their face.... when you wet your face with anything you always wipe it after - it's a natural reaction, if you don't wipe it the little hairs that have been pushed down slowly try and push themselves back up.... that's what the tickly- itchy feeling is.
I explain thaat once it's completely dry you can touch it and even wipe your hand gently over it, or even tap the itchy part with their finger and it's all better.

I get those comments often, and it itches on me too.... I just tell them it is the paint drying and just to smoosh their face to loosen up the paint... seems to work fine. Wink
