Easy Rose no split cake required
OK, here's my first tutorial ever!
1. Double load a flat brush with a darker red on one side and a lighter color on the other side. I loaded with red and a bit of orange.
2. Paint a circle by rotating the brush around so one color is on the inside and one on the outside. I used red on the outside and orange on the inside.

3. Use black on a small brush (I used #0) to paint the inside swirl of the rose, closing after the first loop.

4. Paint the inner petals around in crescent shapes that overlap each other on the ends.

5. Paint outer petals. I usually paint them in the shape of the top of a heart (two bumps) swirling out, overlapping each one a little starting from one edge in the middle of the inner petals going around once in a layer. Then, continue doing this until you are at the edge of the circle.

6. Put a lighter color on the outside of the petals (optional.) I used gold.

7. Put in white highlights.

8. Add leaves and blend colors a little if you like.

That came out nice! Very spanish I thought - it made me thinks of the bright flowers that are pinned in the hair. I'm going to work on this tonight. Thank you so much for sharing!

Re: Easy Rose no split cake required
I was just about to post a question about how to do a rose without the one-stroke method since I don't have split cakes right now...and then I found this! Thanks so much.

You don't have to do the double load in the beginning either. It can start with just one color.
