And that is the purpose of writing a business plan... which I have to say you have pretty much done right here! Wink

2. Do one more festival this year than last year (last year did 4 festivals).
3. Go to 2 conventions.
4. Get my 14-year-old daughter trained to paint and not just glitter tattoo by the end of the year.
5. Figure out a faster set-up and break-down at parties- consolidate my kit.
6. Learn new boys' designs.
7. Get set up for black light parties.

Well, we ended up moving 3 states over so some of these didn't happen, obviously!

1. Have only done 5 events since we moved the first of October.
2. Didn't even get to do the 4 festivals I normally do!
3. Went to only 1 convention.
4. Haven't even begun training my daughter, due to the move.
5. I have consolidated my kit. I bought a fatmax and figured out a much faster and easier setup. I can now setup in 10 min and break down in 5.
6. I learned a couple of new boy designs.
7. Haven't yet begun to buy the things needed for black light parties. Since I gave all my festival stuff to my partner who was staying in Mississippi, I have to re-purchase tents, etc. to do any festivals, so the black light stuff will have to wait.

I made more money, which was good seeing as I got laid off from my full-time dayjob in July and am working two part-time in addition to my make-up business! It takes up the slack from the drop in income from the other.

I also have been getting more interest for different things - painting masks and eye designs at a gala for adults, body painting for art show, painting hosts/servers at fund raisers, etc.

The latter part of the year was great for promotional opportunities - FP on the radio, featured at a Wearable Art Show, featured in local arts magazine, working with local photographers on projects, etc.

Picked up more corporate clients and more repeaters. And booked more birthdays than any other year.

It's been a good year I think... until I do my books at year end I don't know exactly HOW good, but so far I think I can say it is my best year yet.

Interesting..... When I fist looked at my list I didn't think I had done so well. Looking back at what I was doing then though I do see a big improvement.

1. I would love to attempt a body painting this year.. even if its just part of a body. ---- Well I managed a top torso a couple of times... will have to make a full body a goal for next year!

2. I would love to do some sort of course to tone in some of those basic skills. --- Nup.... although I have watched many tutorials on the net and have been teaching a few people and training up another painter. I am definitely much more confident in my basic skills.

3. Work on boy designs, teenage designs, and swirls and curls. ---- Done... it is something that OI will always keep working on.

4. Complete a Choices board.--- Done! Although I am planning another one already... that includes faces I have already done, like more fast faces and complex (higher price bracket) and adult designs...

5. Keep my website updated regularly---- Getting there, blogging has helped.

6. Refine my complete setup.---- So so close! I finally have a tent and everything I need for a festival set up.. now I need to start replacing things like my ridiculously wobbly table....

7. More Belly Paintings --- Done! Really helped having a tonne of friends have babies this year.

8. Improve my photography--- Well it hasn't got any worse Razz

1) Add more full face designs
2) Make over $7000 this year (I did over 4 my first full year, just over 5 this past year... 6 seems too obvious, I'm pushing for 7)
3) Learn to do balloon decor for weddings, etc.
4) incorporate ukulele into my shows
5) learn to juggle (been working for this one for over 2 years now... someday I'll get it)

Well, I got #1 and #2... tried #3 but it didn't really take off around here. Tried #4 but I need more practice before it's really ready for performance and I've completely abandoned #5 now. Not bad I'd say Very Happy

1. Pay back business loan
3. Do 12 designs quickly and well
4. Be able to paint 10+ kids in an hour
5. Get a travel set up organized

Ok I payed back my loan
I got 12 designs down
Did not have a gig where I needed to do 10 kids let alone in an hour
Got travel set up organized.

I also tried the 10 restaurant challenge which got me nothing. Ok well one place said if someone asks for it we will call you but they put the flier in a drawer so how is anyone suppose to ask?
