Grande Prairie area

Post by Shannon Fennell on Wed Sep 24, 2008 10:58 am

I am always in need of assistants to work with me on shows at the Grande Prairie Live Theatre and on face painting gigs (mainly Nov/Dec, and a few throughout the year)... so if there is anyone in the South Peace Region of Alberta who is interested in learning theatrical make-up (which includes face painting on a big scale) and working with me on large events contact me!

I will be more than happy to train complete beginners and I do provide all kit for these jobs too. The theatre work is volunteer and the face painting gigs are paid. You do not require your own insurance as mine will cover my staff.

Hi Shannon

Just wondering if you have the dates for the live theatre productions that you are looking for help with and at the same time train someone.

Generally there is a three/four week run for the shows (with performances Thurs/Fri/Sat nights and Matinees on Sat and/or Sun) - this year we are doing Dr Dolittle in January (opens Jan 14) and You're A Good Man Charlie Brown (opens Mar 25). The other shows won't involve face painting at all. There are usually two dress rehearsals the Mon/Tues prior to opening - and if very involved with face painting/make-up or hair we might have an additional tech rehearsal for make-up.

Wow Shannon, that would be a great opportunity. Unfortunately, for me, I am in school full time and can't leave. I do however have reading week Feb 15 to 20th

Yeah, I'm kind of in the same boat as Criss..... I teach Gr. 3 so my holidays are very limited. I'll keep seeing if there's enough people to warrant a workshop in the Lethbridge area though!

It varies on the dates guys and the theatre is volunteer labour...

If you are in the Grande Prairie area let me know your contact info and send samples of your work as I do have a need to have additional face painters for paid work throughout the year. Strictly on an as needed basis.

Shannon, I will love to learn from you but I am so far away, but I need to ask you something:
I was asking to work for the theatre at the military base, I told them my rate was $50 an hour for 10 faces, they think is too pricey, How can I give them a better price, I was thinking on tell them about they buy their on supplies and then I work for a lower rate, How do you do it?
