I finally got to try metalix for the first time!

Post by Mehndi Masala on Fri Jan 07, 2011 10:53 am

So I have a friend here who is a clown...we have known eachother for several years but have now gotten to be great pals now that we have something in common! (she's been a clown and even teaches at the clown collage and was just in India for clowning...I'll put a link here...it's actually quite cool!)

We got together for a jam day and I am IN LOVE with wolfe black and white! Yeah...the black stains a little... DON'T CARE! LOL loving the sharpness...and the white stays crisp! And metallix and pearl! I have no words!! I MUST have them...March is too far away!! Had to share today!! Here is just a bit of what I did while I was there.....wish I had planned some designs...but I just winged it on the spot with no references...just playing with paint!

Kinda Geisha...sorta....

Kind of a cross between a jester/mardi gras mask and a butterfly

Glittermark and metalix and just no real design...a couple of glaring boo boos, but a great experience and excercise in playing with the different brands!

OH and of course....Dee Dee's page!

Looks like you had a ton of fun. I'm trying to build up my metallics selection too. I just haven't made up my mind about what brand I want to go with.

I just ordered some metalix! I finally decided on Pearl TAG mainly due to price differences. Just can't see paying so much more for DFX if it's essentially the same. However, I do have DFX purple (violet?) and it's amazing.

My two cents on the metallic Paradise I've tried so far:

Silver - almost too sheer to use on its own, except maybe for a fairy face, instead of a pearl white? Very subtle. I suspect a pearl white would be nicer. I got the Mehron powder to mix in with it and it really helps it pop better for line work.

Gold - really nice bright yellow-gold color and can use it on its own. If you add the powder it changes it more to an, err "adult" gold. It is just not as bright and shiny, more dull, but more like molten real gold.

Red - I bought it to use it like Clayton (I believe) suggested as a split cake with red for spidey masks as I was worried the regular red would just be too bright (if there is such a thing) and I wanted to give it a little bit of sparkle without using glitter for the boys. I think it's going to work really well that way, but I must say it was much "browner" than I expected. For valentine hearts it will be staying in my case.

I have only had enough money and number of events to need only silver and gold- I first used Snaz metallics, but when I switched to DFX- I about fell off of my couch!!! They are so wonderful and versatile that I couldn't do without them! I can't wait to start adding more with my tax refund!!!

Beautiful designs BTW!!!!

LOL I will have learned alot by then I am sure, but sharing your experiences, time and observations while I work are invaluable! Like with henna, speed and confidence can improve greatly when you can watch in real life AND have someone go, "Yeah, that will work and it looks good...but watch when I do this....." and all of the sudden you can speed up by maybe even minutes!!! I maybe 'growing' fast, but you have ooooh so much to give and I have oooooh so much to learn!!
