I always thought Mike's mask was deep yellow too. I really need to get some of these on my hero menu board.

Shannon, your brother definitely would have flipped out over the transformer movie. It's awesome that you and your mom went to see it in his honor.

Teenage mutant ninja turtles

From wikipedia - Michelangelo (Mike or Mikey) — Easy-going and free-spirited, Michelangelo wears an orange mask and wields a pair of nunchaku. Michelangelo provides much of the comic relief. While he loves to relax, this Turtle also has an adventurous and creative side. He's something of the "surfer" boy, speaking usually in a Southern California accent. He is the youngest of the four. He is named after the Italian Renaissance painter, sculptor, architect, poet, and engineer Michelangelo Buonarroti. His name was originally misspelled "Michaelangelo" by Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman.[7]

Other than vaguely being familiar with the term TMNT, I know nothing about them... Does anyone have an example of a decent TMNT face paint -- I did a google search and the only one I could find is here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/veronica84/2468013497/
but I'm sure there is a better standard...

Or can you please describe how to approach this design?

TIA

Not my best but I don't get requests for TMNT ... this pic is from almost 7 years ago. The paint had come off his mouth by the time we took the pic and on the side of the orange face mask there is a knot/tie.

Awesome!!!!! I like the lighter color fine. I really love the mouth, so cool!
How in the world do you paint with your eyes closed KIm? Are you sure you are from another planet? hmmmm, that would explain your talent lol!

LOL Razz Thanks Maggie! Actually the eyes were the hardest part because I do my art with glasses on so the 'on my own face' challenges are actually quite the challenge! When I close my left eye, it's not so bad, but my right eye I feel like I'm painting in a fog!!!

PLUS I have old lady wrinkly eyes....not great when trying to paint it with a brush!!!Mad

Glad I did it but I already see the errors and can do a better one next time. At the corners of the mask on the bottom, the line should go down, not up. Mouth should be a tad lower and the bottom chin line wider. My top lip is a bit pointy so I should have either moved the mouth line way down or at least tried to disguise my lip better.

"Buddy, please give me back my mirror - go look in the one over there."

This is great. You kill me Shannon. Ans so true.
"NEXT!"

I also wear glasses and it is a pain when painting yourself.
I can't imagine how hard was for you to paint with one eye closed at a time but Oh boy, I would have love to see you while you were painting tee-hee Smile
I really don't see all those things you want to fix but I am not very familiar with the TMNT's lol . To me it looks great!

Me either, but I just looked at the pic Michelle posted of the TMNT and went off of that but upon further inspection of the purple guy....I could see my errors....BUT if corrected the next time (if there is a next time) I know what to do. I think this one I did would really only be good for a 10 year old and up boy or a younger one that I could already tell was a bit less wiggly- otherwise, skip the eyes part and just let him have his own eyes ringed in white or maybe just bare with a surrounding mask.

Not sure if I like it enough to add to my portfolio or not.......... may just be a 'secret' for my pals here!! LOL

Kim -- those are fantastic!

I'm amazed (but not surprised) at how you just pulled that "out of the hat" ! There is no denying natural talent Smile

Great TMNT designs! And I am totally LMAO on the yellow/orange discussion, because my hubby and I have this argument over the color between green and red on a stoplight. =)

I usually ask the boys if they are married already. That usually gets a big eyed look and a blech!
Always the usual what they want to be, what color, do they want glitter, lipstick.
Sometimes I ask the boys if they want glitter too or I tell them that truly it isn't glitter at all, it's dragon scales.

If a girl says they want a pink whatever, I will say I never could have guessed that would be their favorite color. Parents always laugh about that one.

I like to be chatty with the kids, it helps them relax and I think it makes parents relax also. They like that their kid is getting personal attention.
