BIG DAY! Had to share!

Post by Mehndi Masala on Sat Jan 22, 2011 8:15 pm

Today I had a great and odd day....

Go to breakfast with mom & dad & DH in DH's car....WIN

Go to call client....she lets me know we will start an hour 1/2 late...(misunderstanding on both our parts)......FAIL

Use that time to go get a FATMAX!!! ....WIN

Go to start my car to go to client - car dead......FAIL

Use DH's car and go to my FIRST paid private appointment for body paint!!!

SUPER WIN!!

I had no plan or pattern and made it up as we went using bits and pieces off the internet and out of my head AND I actually like how it turned out!!

Thanks for listening! Not sure who else would 'get' the joy!!!!

Absolutely beautiful! You've never produced anything that even resembled beginner work. You amaze me with your natural talent!

Sorry about the car, but yey for the body art and the fat max. You have to post a photo after you get it all set up.

Thanks guys! I knew you would 'get me'!! And thank you for the kind words! The support you guys give is just so great! It is really encouraging to help you push forward!!

I set it all with superhold hairspray and she should look faboo for the evening! She wanted to do this instead of a new outfit!

I've made some split cakes and the 'fire' cake is yellow, orange, red. (if you go to my gallery, look at the football or the flaming skull...same cake) For the scales I used a small flat brush on the yellow and orange only - staying away from the red - and just c-curved the scales with the yellow up at all times. Sounds tedius, but is faster than you think.

For the fins and just the first row over the eyes, I used the whole cake but just lightly brought the red in.

For the cherry blossoms, I made a rose cake and just used the red and pink with almost little to no white. This is all Snazaroo except for the black which is wolfe black that my clown friend gave me a sample of (BOY does a little go a loooooong way!!!!) Waiting for my DFX to come from facepaintforum this week and test that out!

Kim you are so talented. Great work. Thank you for explaining how you did it. I hear so many people say they can't get these kinds of results with snaz. Thanks for showing it is possible.

I guess when you start out working with a hard product, the rest should be easier I'm hoping! I don't find it hard at all, but then at this point in the game, I've not known anything else! Once I get better at the FP & BP, it's time to haul out the old air compresser and learn how to airbrush!!

Impromptu is how I do most of my stuff. OR I start with an idea and then presto-chango, it morphs into something else. The only time anything is written in stone is when a client says "I WANT THIS" ...well then...that's whatcha get!

I am hoping airbrush will be my next step but I would like to get the FP thing down before I start leaping into something else. I'm a bit of a combo 'do it right or don't do it' and 'go big or go home' kinda gal. Will I be able to airbrush?!? NO idea! I played with one once about 6 years ago and stencils are so easy that anyone can do that, but to PAINT with it is WAY harder than it looks!

Luckily, I LIKE a challenge! But think I'll try one challenge at a time and right now...FP had MORE than enough challenges for me!! LOL
