I need help with a customer request

I had a customer fill out my booking form and in it, she said that if I felt like I was running out of time and didn't have time in the hour she booked me for, that her and her mother-in-law could do the glitter tattoos while I finish up the face painting.

I'm left rather speechless and am not sure how to respond to that. Anyone with experience in this type of thing and a tactful way to tell her that I wouldn't want customers using my supplies and applying the glitter tattoos? Maybe she thinks they're the type of tattoos you buy at the store and apply with a damp cloth? I'm really not sure.

Any thoughts would be appreciated! Smile

Just say no. No one handles your kit but you, your insurance does not cover them as they are not staff, etc. etc.

Like a plumber would let the homeowner help???? People!! Sheesh.

I had a dad once at a neighbourhood event come up and offer to help me... ah, yeah, right... your kids being the first ones YOU paint? I just said sorry but my insurance will not cover that.

Step AWAY from the kit!!!! Mad

I'd tell her if she was using her own glitter tattoos then you can just do face painting at the event and if you go over then you need more time anyway to do the amount of face painting requested.

If she wants professional supplies AND glitter tattoos, then she needs to book more time if the children want both professional services.

Probably loose the client though....

It is the truth!! My "staff" are covered as they are being paid by me, but just letting some person I don't know who I am not paying apply products is not going to happen!!!

Sounds like you got some good advice. She just needs to realize that if she wants both services, she will need to pay for your time.

I would explain the insurance thing and explain that you realize time is an issue and you will make every effort to complete the job, but may time may be required.
