Hippie Heart Belly

Post by CATZ on Sat Feb 05, 2011 6:46 pm

Ok, so this one DIDN'T go into labour during painting... Very Happy

She's booked for a C-section on Valentines Day so we thought something in theme would be fun. I wanted to come up with some simpler designs so I could cut down on my painting time. I came up with this in the wee hours this morning. It was done in under an hour cheers

I used flat brushes on their sides to get the tiedyed look to it. Some sponging to make it blend a bit and then DFX white lines on top to give the 'missed' streaks you get in tie dying. The DFX neon yellow and orange worked better than kryolan as it was more opaque. I used some DFX metallic purple, light blue, pink and regular DFX light green and white.
Here are some step by steps:

CUTE!! I love it. Great theme! And I have to thank you Magna for suggesting that zero gravity chair. I've used it since then for a belly painting and it was perfect. Very Happy

Yay! Glad to help Angie Very Happy

You've inspired me lots. I tried a version of your avatar butterfly a year ago and have used it in some of my advertising because it turned out so great. Not as great as yours...but I was happy with it.

So you know that you HAVE to show it to us now! I want to see! I really need some new promotional designs but can't think of a single thing. My heart ALWAYS wants to do butterflies... *sigh*

Alright...but remember, this was a YEAR ago! Very Happy I wanted to use a different colour at least but the girl I painted it on wanted purple...I'd been facepainting for about 6 months at this point and practicing my inspiring finds at home. I used a kryolan metallic purple and silver for the base.

I use it as the 'icon' for facepainting gallery on my website too (hope that's OK with you) Very Happy Here's a flyer I use for emailing.

I still have a couple in my drawer Very Happy

That's your challenge Carolyn...I want to see your tie dye nails in the 'break room'! Wink

The trick is not to be so awesome at linework, let it blend and then the white streaks sporatically at the end.

I love your purple butterfly Magna! It looks really fab on the promotional flyer and on your website. That metallic purple is gorgeous. I love your avatar one even more. I'm on a yellow and orange kick lately, lol. Funny how we go through color phases.
