Must admit it..I have done it when I have been desperate to try out a new design. However I now trade it for extra computer time or something equally enticing for them. Very Happy

I had to stoop to paying my 16 year old son tonight... with a movie ticket... He absolutely ABHORS getting painted. I made him sit through 3 faces tonight because I have a circus themed event coming up and needed to practice. Tonight he was a chimp (got the nose all wrong), a lion and an elephant mask... tomorrow he'll be a clown...poor kid Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

I am a nanny to three children and have one of my own, and no body lets me, unless I pay or bribe them. The youngest is 10 and I usually have had a large play-date style party and paint her and her friends, but, they too are all sick of it. I am actually going to ask a couple of friends with little kids if they will have a play date gathering and I will come over for free if I can take and use their pics. I want to up date my website, and make a banner for the spring season coming up.

Wow, this was fun to read. I have heard about the kiddos learning to hate it, so I try to never paint mine unless they ask. Keep it a special thing, they have to come to me for. Having said that, I have a weekly 3 hour gig, with regulars that often request a "surprise!" so I get my practicing in (a few are the servers, who sit still, always my favorite.)

My grandchildren loved being painted when I first started. Now that the novelty has worn off I have very mixed results. By seeing my 4 year old grandson I have learned that some kids just do not like paint on their faces but he is happy for designs and tattoos on arms. His twin sister loves getting painted but just pretty things.
As the children get older, they find it less cool so bribery and payment work.

My oldest hates being painted, always has-he flinches constantly. Yesterday he decided he wanted a footlong from Subway and we bartered. I get him the grinder and he gives me 2 full faces of my choice! I never thought about bribing a teenage boy with food, duh me! I figure I'd be feeding him anyway, I might as well work on my portfolio too! lol
The 7 year old is getting bribed with Lego minifigures. 5 faces for 1 $3 lego pack (4 faces if he sits still and doesn't complain, Wink

I am SO lucky! My friend's seven-year-old son ADORES getting his face painted. She and I work in the same elementary school, and he attends. Whenever he passes me in the hall, he looks me in the eyes and silently points to his face, over and over (he's a dramatic fellow!).

I periodically go to his house and paint him all day. Picture-time is the best. He runs outdoors and poses in all sorts of ways. For the reptile design, he stood next to a tree and pretended to be clawing his way up it. For the puppy design, we had him crouch near a fire hydrant.

When we're done, I give him a brush and let him go at me. Then we eat dinner and roughhouse.

I am so blessed! He is fun, he sits still, and he has a wonderful imagination. I'm doing his birthday this spring (for free, of course Surprised), and it's going to be a shock for him to get only one design that day (as all his friends will need to be painted up too).

I also paint me nieces, about every other time I see them.

My board has lots of people on it from festivals, whose parents signed consents. It's also covered in people I love, which is a nice feeling whenever I look at it.

Smile Joan

Oh hell no! They do what they are told, period. Being a face paint model is just like any other chore.

My little sis (12) is just happy to have what she sees as a 'fashion statement' on her face. She gets to pick a topic and I get to paint. When her friends (14) come over they get attacked as well and the girls will play 'whats she painting' the one being painted has to try to guess what the picture is going to be before the one watching.
I have promised the 3 of them I will do them all up as sugar skulls and let them take her friends dog for a walk round the block.
