Practice on my new Manequin head

Post by glitterfly on Mon Feb 07, 2011 9:14 pm

This thing sure stains. I have been using a ton of nail polish remover to get the stains off.
You can see on the orange butterfly the black paint stained in the eye lids.
Does anyone have an easier way to cleaning the heads?

Thanks in advance for any advice.
Take care,
Kim

Beautiful butterflies!

I remember somebody on here once mentioning 100% acetone as a good cleaner. I bought some a couple of months ago, and it works great.

I also spray my practice head with hairspray first let it dry & then paint. It washes off under warm water & I only need to do a little rubbing.

I bought mine from my local beauty supply. It's usually used to remove false nails. Very Happy

Nice butterflies Smile
& yes, 100% pure acetone (I purchased a large bottle for $6 at a beauty supply store). Oh, works best if you use it w/cotton balls, swabs, squares or pads. It last a long time. I'm haven't even used a quarter of the acetone & I use my head a lot (LOL).
Enjoy your head!

Can't help you with the practice head but just wanted to say your blending is beautiful! love the mix of the green with purple! The orange is stunning, what orange is that if you don't mind me asking.

Thanks Maggie. They are actually split cakes from Silly Farm. Usually I make my own but these colours caught my eye. I can get the names for you when I get home.

I don't mind some residue, but mine gets so stained I can't even tell what colors I'm using! [scrub, scrub]
