Mark Reid workshop in April in Toronto
Okay - I have to attend this one as well. Is anyone else going?
I love Mark Reid. So excited.
Quite a bit of money but I think so worth every penny.
Just need 5 more hours of face painting parties to pay for it.
Come on bookings.

Re: Mark Reid workshop in April in Toronto
I just saw this one...it looks fantastic!!! But, I don't think I could swing another class so soon after the Wolfe brothers one.
It would really keep the creative flow going though, wouldn't it!
Re: Mark Reid workshop in April in Toronto
Yah, I am going to ask my hubby for this for my birthday. Fingers crossed.
Re: Mark Reid workshop in April in Toronto
I'm actually quite upset that she booked this so close to the other one... how are we supposed to afford these expensive things so close together? She's liable to piss off Mark Reid by not filling up the classes just because it is so close to the Wolfe Brothers one. I don't think I'd spend that kind of money on the two days anyway... I've heard he's "not so friendly" or at least a bit on the sexist side. Just what I've heard...
Re: Mark Reid workshop in April in Toronto
Is it up to Shelley to actually book these workshops? It can be just a coincidence that they are so close together. It is alot of money. $400 for the 2 day workshop, fuel, food and hotel for 2 nights. Boy oh boy.....my hubby is gonna kill me. Oh...plus, 3 days off work.. Hopefully I can take vacation days for them,
I wonder how far people will travel to be taught by Mark Reid.
I know it is probably once in a lifetime that he will be this close to us.
Too bad it;s not in Windsor.
I gotta talk to my hubby tonight.
I think I would of booked the Mark Reid one over the Wolfe Brothers one if I knew first. Oh well.

Re: Mark Reid workshop in April in Toronto
Where is there information available on this class? Is it open to anyone? Toronto is about a 5 hour drive for me, so not too bad, and I'd love to take a MR class for two days... probably alot more affordable than a convention for me until after the summer rush.

Re: Mark Reid workshop in April in Toronto
I think mark is an amazing artist I think he just has alot he wants to teach and such a short time to teach it..I do like the face that in vegas he kept the class from talking so much.. you know when you get a lot of women together we will talk..I did think he worked kinda of fast..but his class was very good and I would take another one if I could..maybe next year.
Re: Mark Reid workshop in April in Toronto
I was thinking of going to this class, but for half the price I can go to 2 days with Pashur and not have to pay for a hotel. It just makes more sense for me financially. But hopefully I'll have another opportunity to get to such an extensive class with Mark soon! He is an amazing artist, and as long as he's teaching and helping me become better at my craft, I'll take him with whatever attitude he wants to have!
I didn't find him difficult at FABBULAS... he was teaching, and as a teacher you need a level of respect and attention given to you to do your job.
Re: Mark Reid workshop in April in Toronto
I can also say first hand that Mark is a wonderful (albeit a little rough around the edges) teacher. He's serious about his art and when he's teaching he's serious about YOUR art as well. If it looks like crap, he's going to tell you...in sometimes kinder words depending on how well he knows you. I spent four days in one-on-ones with him and took a few classes as different conventions and I didn't see any of the sexist quality in the classroom. Now...after classes at a bar...well, he's no more "manish" than any of the other guys. I wouldn't pass up the opportunity if it's doable, it really is a different type of learning experience!
Re: Mark Reid workshop in April in Toronto
I have to concur I have met and spent time with Mark Reid.....does he shoot from the hip yes hes does....should his mouth sometimes consult with his brain before letting loose yes it should.
But he is one of the most genuine, funny, extremely talented and kindest people I have had the chance to meet. He took to Angel and she to him. If I thought for a moment that he was out of order or had a garrish/sexist persona no way would I have let that child be around him or be painted by him

Re: Mark Reid workshop in April in Toronto
I would have to agree with tamara..I wish I had been more prepared for his class..as a beginner I thought he was just to fast for me..the rest of the ladies seam to keep up..but vegas was my first convention and I was a bit nervous too..but I enjoyed his class very much..and I think he is a great teacher and artist...
Re: Mark Reid workshop in April in Toronto
Mark is going to be in Vermont in April too. I took a class with him last year, He was Great. He gave us a crash course in finding inspiration when we went out to dinner the evening before the class, and then during our class he included how to take photos. everything from lighting, angle and posing the subject. He even made a cd of all the pictures from the class. Amazing, just an amazing instructor. I was thrilled to hear that he was going to be in Vermont and I'm looking forward to being in another class of his.
