Misha, you are right. The 1st thing I did when I got home was trying to get the paint out of the plastic, it was so easy and like you said, very pliable.
Do you have a Walmart near by? They have them for 1.97

I was thinking, with all the gas I have spent running around to different Walmart's I could have paid for the whole 30 gr cake plus shipping lol
Oops, forgot to tell you good luck!

Don't forget clearance! I bought some at the $1.97 just to see if they were too crumbly to easily make one-strokes. They are great...nice, fresh paint.

I am excited , I found a local shop that carries paradise, and Ben nye!! And the paradise is about the same as on the Internet. This will be great for when I am in a pinch. I got a blue and some mehron barrier spray that was cheaper than online. I do plan to hit Walmart nov 1 early to get the Wolfe for 1/2 off.

Thanks so much for this thread! it is great to see att the different types of paints how they truly look. Hubby let me paint on him today and I did two steelers logos one with the walmart pot paints and one with tulip and showed him their is a difference in the paints big time. I will try to get a photo in the am if they are still there Smile
i love the tulip silver and black so far and I am heading to walmart in the am to see if i can get a few clearance paints! I didn't even think of it otherwise i would have had hubby look this am when he went shopping Sad
So far on my wish list I have Starblend black and white for base paints, Snazaroo red and some diamond fx for colors - but i may try some snazaroo first if i can get some at michaels or joanns with a coupon Smile
Can everyone tell me their favorite arty cake colors please. Super tight on money but want to have some fun Smile

I'm not big on Arty cakes...they seem to wear unevenly. I love the colors of lots of the TAG one-stroke cakes. There are several threads about them .... take a look in the Forum shop. Metina has some examples (if you see "Product Demo" click on it.

I want to jump in my car and go to Walmart for the clearance paint lol

I have only 3 tag split cakes and one neon rainbow cake that I bought, the rest are all homemade with all tag or DFX. One thing I notice is when you mix pearl/metallic colors with regular the pearls wear out faster because they are softer.

My favorite to have are

A rainbow cake
Splits with Greens : For Snakes, leaves, monsters, etc
Split with Red, pink and white for flowers, hearts, girls stuff
Black and white, for skulls, some animals, wings
Different blues for dolphins, sharks, water, etc.
My all time favorite is pink, yellow and white all pearls, it looks so pretty for girls.

You can buy them or you can probably get more bang for your buck if you make them yourself.
Just remember that when you use snazaroo don't pot it on a clear plastic container, there are ingredients in snazaroo that will eat the clear plastic making it brittle and break.

Good luck!

Re: This vs. That - Comparing Brands side by side (Picture Heavy)

Post by SewDarnHot on Fri Nov 02, 2012 7:19 pm

Thanks Maggie and Martha!
I went to Walmart today and took all that they had left and was playing in the car with them before I got home! Laughing
I was able to get 3 blacks, 3 reds, 3 pinks, 2 yellows, 1 light blue, 1 white and one brown.
They are all hard ones, can I combine a couple to make my own split cakes? I was thinking if I made one with the blue white and pink then I could use the blue/white or the Pink /white. I would also like the yellow pink and blue though. Any suggestions? Also since they are hard types I cant mold them like i have read can I just break off a slice with a sharp knife or ??? Any ideas would be great!
Thank you. I love you
