Soooo Loving my new Tattoo Paints.....More New Pics

Post by ChangingFaceDesigns on Fri Mar 25, 2011 9:07 am

I am soooooo enjoying my Kryolan BIC palette the more I work with it the better things are coming out. Here are a couple of new pics to share. I am really really pleased with the last one I did last night. I pulled the design from my new tattoo book....(not the sourcebook one)

All the tattoos were done freehand....*cringe* as I still 5 years into this have trouble with symmetry. You would think being an engineer and after allllllllll the drafting classes I have had I'd be better at this...lolol smh. I found a tattoo pen at the craft store to do the initial outline, which is great because if I make a mistake easy off. I then do the whole thing in the tattoo paints dust with some powder and there ya go.

yippieeeeeeeee cheers

I am gonna try and pick up some tracing paper and try it as a transfer for the more difficult and detailed designs

These are awesome Changing. I kind of have a dumb questions cause I'm still new to all of this. What are tatoo paints? Do they differ from regular FP?

The tattoo paints are activated with 99% alcohol and are designed to last several days. So far on their own they've lasted about 3-4 days before really wearing off. I figure I could probably prolong the look by using my Ben Nye Final Seal or hairspray

Wow! good job! I use the Temptu tempory tat paints. But these seem much brighter.

Hmmmmm. But, now that I have invest over $200 in the pallettes, I just don't want to try another brand ::::sigh:::::

Still, I really like the colors you got.

Those are great, Changing. I especially love that cross. What kind of tattoo pen did you get? I experimented with a watercolor pencil the other day and it worked pretty well for making a with tracing paper, then there's no alcohol involved in doing the transfer itself.

I just received the metallic Temptu palette Jacana posted in the swap area of the forum and the colors are gorgeous. It looks like she only dipped her brush in about 2 of the colors, otherwise, brand new. I am off work today, so I am going to try something with it.

I'm glad I'm not the only one doing these because the info about using these paints is practically non existent, even from the companies that make them. I

Many of the fixatives/sealers actually dissolve the alcohol based paints so test on something you don't care about first - what we tell people to prolong them is that it is based on position (not somewhere that gets rubbed by clothes or other parts of the body), avoiding soap/oil/lotion in the area, and powdering (with no color or baby powder) multiple times a day (morning/evening) including before and after getting it wet. Mom had one last 18+ days - it was looking a little worn at that point though so she took it off so someone didn't think it was freshly applied looking like that. I kept one 3 full weeks before forgetting and washing it off in the shower.

I've been told that layering another patch of "clear" (ie no pigment) ink overtop will last longer (because that has to wear off first), but I haven't tried it - mostly because my clear ends up having a pigment added to it to make something specific Smile

Wow! Those look great! I love the cross!
I'm curious, how much do the cost & what exactly is the pen? I've wanted to do something like this for adult clients.

I read on another forum (I think it is a tattoo forum, they have a section for temp and airbrush tatts) that you can spray liquid bandage over them. It has to be one that does not have alcohol in it or it will reactivate the paints and make it bleed or run. The one they recommended was Nexcare and it is a spray. They all agreed that it was hard to find and the only place some of them found it was either online or at Sam's club, and at some pharmacies you it is behind the counter and you have to ask for it. I'm going to try it when I find some. I wonder what a thin layer of body glue would do?

Well I sprayed the rose with some CHI hair spray so we will see how it goes.

Flutter I can't wait to see what the metallics look like.

Lilly, the first time I used them they didn't appear bright at all. I thought at first that it might have been a waste of money, but I tried it a few more times and I found I was using too much alcohol to paint ratio. You truly need very little. So I finally figured out how to work it and the colors really do come out very nice. I really really like them now.

Can't wait to try out even more designs at the JAM tonight.

Think I might have to keep the one I got from Jacana in the swap shop just for me....and purchase another one to use in my working kit.

Lilly if you havea pic with the Temptu metallics would you please post it so I can see what they look like???

Thanks
Tamara

Yes, you do get brighter colors with less alcohol. You also use alot more paint, but the brighter colors are worth it. I've tried it both ways. A thinner, more transluscent layer sometimes looks more like a "real", but I've also noticed that alot of the newer "real" tattoos are getting alot brighter. I like the bright ones. I am still so much in the trial and error with these. Now that I have the "inked" palette, which I really dont like much, it has like 3 different greens in it to mimic old school biker and military tattoos and the colors are not bright, because I guess, like I said, most of the older tatts are not bright. The metallic ones look brighter in the palette, so I am hoping they look better, even if there aren't any real metallic tatoos, or at least I haven't seen any. Well, I am off to try out the new metallic paints.

Sorry, folks for having to cut out earlier on the discussion but I had to get to an event...didn't realize the time. smh @ me

Flutter the pen is from ac moore and it's called a tattoo marker pen, comes in different colors. I had a 50% coupon so I figured I'd give it a try. I would not use it to do an atual design, because 1) using too much it tends to bleed 2) not water resistant

I got it just to do an inital outline, so if I make a mistake or want to change something I can easily wipe it off.

I still have yet to try it out on tracing paper to do as a transfer, will definitely do so this weekend.

My daughter and her friends are all stoked about these, got more volunteers then I need....lololol Hmmmmmmm maybe I'll say in order to get a tattoo you must let me paint your face.....how does that sound??

Linda I got this palette from jacana in the swap shop.....(Thanks Jacana) but the Kryolan BIC palette sells on SF for $60.00 and I think the Temptu are $69.00, and the BIC acivator is like $6.00

I hope I answered everyones questions
