Orchadae ~ Tropical Pointer

Here is a youtube of an orchid facepainting I did. I entered the Brush Strokes Mag 'Totally Tropicial' contest with it, but didn't win. I did get my picture posted on the March 09 issue though.

I find that design a bit freaky actually Heather... a bit disturbing. I did not even think it was a flower at first glance... I see now that it is an orchid...

Sorry it looked freaky to ya! I did another one on a friend, 'Jenmanii Night Blooming Orchid'...it looks even 'wierder'...maybe I'll post it for you too! Kinda why I picked the music I did to go along with this one...they usually have something to do with the overall theme...

I hope it made you laugh at least once you realized what it was! I was trying to do something totally different! I'd looked at photos of various orchids and when I saw the 'Tropical Pointers' I just had to translate it to a face painting!

First impression was of a weird sea creature or alien... in a threatening way. Maybe I was on meds that day!

ROFL Shannon! Well here is the 'inspiration' photo. Really, I tried to stick as close to the true nature of the flower as possible...wasn't trying for alien squid monster...but hey, maybe the Wolfe Brothers would like it! They love freaky!!

I used my nose as the 'stamin' since it if fairly large on the actual flower and I have an erm...fairly generous nose too! ;D That part is the only part I kinda didn't like, as it made my nose look even bigger! But what the hey, it was for the sake of my art!
