Clicks translating to business

Post by Perry Noia on Sat Apr 02, 2011 8:15 am

Ok, the number of clicks I'm getting through to my website is great. I'm very happy with those numbers... HOWEVER, it is not translating to the amount of business one would expect from that kind of interest. I realize that we are in kind of the "slower" time for my part of the world (it's still pretty cold and parents don't want 20 kids stuck in their living room running around like crazy), but it should be on the upswing right now and things are kind of stuck in low gear right now (not dead but slow).

I'm wondering if there's something specific wrong with my website that is preventing those visitors from actually booking?? Can any of you see something on there that might prevent you from booking? I've been trying to figure out how to put a contact form on the site but because I'm doing all the programming myself, it's a hurdle I haven't quite figured out how to overcome just yet (webs would send me the emails if I could just figure out how to make the actual form).

Thanks in advance for the feedback.

Perry, I just just went through your entire site, and I have to say it looks very professional. You have all of the information I would want to know about before I actually booked you, your prices are quite reasonable, and you even show how the kids respond to you in your video clips. Nicely done!
I can't understand why the bookings aren't coming in, unless it's just the time of year.... I hope things pick up very soon!

A lot of them though are from my area... I can see the geogrphic locations of visitors. I guess I might have to start checking if they're clicking past the first page at all... If they're leaving as soon as they look at prices or what.... Thank you for looking girls, it is much appreciated. My husband thinks i should have my phone number bigger and at the top of each page instead of just my email at the bottom and my number mixed in on certain pages....

I think with the way the economy is people are doing alot more bargain shopping. I get people calling me asking all of these questions on pricing and how much I can offer for that price and then they will call me back a week later and say they went with someone else. It probably has nothing to do with your website. I looked at your website and it looks very clear and organized.

Although I just looked at your prices and you are very fair priced for what you offer so I don't know why you are not getting enough bookings.

I can help you with this - I've hand coded forms for years (haven't needed them in a few years but things haven't changed drastically). As long as you have the form action code and any hidden fields from your host, I'm quite willing to help here, in pm, email or if you'd rather I can call you....

I found that my business calls jumped up a ton when I took my prices off my website. Then I found that I had more of an opportunity to sell myself instead of my prices because people would call. By the way, I am going to start a new thread on a great new book about price shopping.

Perry, with my stamping/scrapbooking business I did a course on internet marketing & was advised that you should have your contact details in your banner - phone/email, that way its easy for people to find the info.

I use these guys for my contact form on my party website: http://www.emailmeform.com/

I like having my prices on there because i hate haggling with people... I know some people like it, but i prefer them calling me because they know they are hiring me, not just calling totell me i'm not worth it.

Webs has a little bit of code to do with the forms, but kompozer is kind of confusing with making forms. I'll play with it a bit more when the kids are at school on monday and i may contact you Noella if i can't figure it out.

I will probably also find a way to put my contact info in a bar near the top

Seriously - when I'm not doing makeup/facepainting etc, computers (and figuring out sticky code for web stuff) is my "day" job - so I can help (although I don't know kompozer specifically but if it is like old Netscape Composer I've used similar). Your posts have helped me so much on here, I'd love to help you in some way with something I know Smile

Thanks Smile it's open source... Kind of like frontpage... It's a rewrite of nvu i think. I'll play with it a little first (I like figuring things out) ... It's just one of those things that i stared at for a bit a few times and it didn't sink in right away so i moved on to something else at the time.

Perry .... I copied someone else's form and just edited the html to use it on my site... wasn't hard.

If you want to copy mine feel free.
