Mini travel paint set

Post by Shawna D. on Mon Apr 04, 2011 2:23 am

How many of you actually carry a mini/travel paint set with you at all times and have you had the opportunity to use it? If yes please explain the situation in which you have used it. I can't imagine being stopped and asked to paint on the spot but, I have seen a few posts on other networking sites about this and want to get your input on this.

Shawna, I have a mini jewel case cake that I made in my purse with my hair ties and yes 2 brushes, I have two brushes and white in my glove compartment and another set of paints in in my husbands truck glovebox, I have a "six pack" at my restaurant, with glitter and brushes, and I always have......

Another set of paints in a HIDDEN compartment in my lower left ARM, hahhaha, Okay not really but I might as well have......I HAVE PAINTS everywhere...

If I was ever without a brush, I have a design that I can do with my finger.... omg! do I have a problem???

I have been thinking of making a small kit up to keep with me. One day I was at the park with my family and a few other kids were there and it would have been a nice opportunity to get in some practice I think.

I carry paints everywhere because if nothing else I can practice if I'm bored and I have pulled them out to play with kids in situations where my own children are involved, just last week I did some little arm designs on all the children at the YBC's last bowling game of the season. I'm like a rock star to them and it makes them so happy, these are my own kid's friends in an organization with volunteer coaches, drivers etc and they never expect it or ask for it but sure do appreciate it when I offer it as a gift.
The easist thing to carry is a paradise 8 palette, very sturdy, lovely colours, holds a small brush and has a mirror. (I always have a couple of sponges and maybe an arty cake

I was just thinking about this today - as I was the girl growing up that always had ink and calligraphy pen in my bag, then a few years later always had a circular saw and a bag of tools...you get the picture.

Once I forgot my brushes on the job - took them in for a good clean and didn't take them back out. I happened to have had a new pack of LC brushes I'd not unpacked yet...did a whole party with three brushes!! Decided when I was at Joann's yesterday, to buy $10 worth of those brushes to keep in the car with my Snaz attache, which still has the Pro kit of 54 colors...just in case. Single motherhood, three businesses and two obstreperous children and two parents to placate make me lose my mind more often, than not.

I'm also keeping my backup black and white in Wolfe in my Snaz kit, while I'm using up my DFX in my Fatmax. I drive a Suburban (when I can afford gas) and always have a folding chair and rollup table in there anyway. I'd go smaller kit, just for the challenge, but living like a turtle has it's advantages LoL.

There is a portable Storage to Go I found at hobby lobby. It's wonderful! I'm putting my snazaroo in it right now. Best of all - compartments lock and it cost 2.50

When I travel I take my Kryolan 24-colour paint box and stick three or four brushes in it. And shove a bunch of sponges in a ziploc bag and sit on it to get the air out before sealing, then it can be slipped in anywhere.

The idea of baby cakes is awesome!
Patent that quick Tra!
Now I can do perfect miniature roses, perfect leaves, tiny waves, mini butterflys, the possibilities are endless.
I always hatted how when i switched from anything smaller than a 1 inch I had to choose what part of my split cakes colors to swipe.
Problem solved.
pure genius!

Start a new thread and name it Baby Cakes!
everyone must know about this cuteness/usefulness!
