The value of confidence......

Post by jenjenhana on Tue Apr 05, 2011 1:15 am

So, after reading that delicious book about price objections I have been feeling really good. I am a relatively new business, and I am certainly not the cheapest. I hated quoting prices to people because I felt I wasn't worth it, blah blah blah. After my first convention I was a lot more confident, but I still did not have the verbal ninja skills to "sell my value," if you know what I mean? Anyway, I just had a company ask me to donate 4 hours of my time "because the event is soooooo big and marketing and a free lunch, blablabla," and "two other entertainers are volunteering their time." Well, I wrote that I would love to be part of the event, and they would love to have me because I am so awesome(joke)but..........they would have to pay my charity rate. Got an email right back and I am getting paid to be there. HA! HAAAHAAAHA!
It feels good to have cajones....................... cheers

That's awesome for you! Way to stand up for yourself. I need to take notes out of the "Grow some Cajones" book.

Good job!! Just yesterday, I felt the same way. I had 2 people call for bookings and when I told them my pricing ,I didn't stammer and was confident. They didn't bat an eye and hired me on the spot! In the past, my phone skills have stunk. But If I start being confident about my value, others will too. Smile

Just did the same thing! Unsure if it will pan out on this one, but that's ok....the other one *DID* pan out. Charities do have a budget for entertainment almost every time...just have to hope you are the first call to get your worth or it's not worth going. IMHO!

That is so cool! Confidence is my worst area. Personally, I want whatever drugs miss Kim is on as she has always seemed to ooze confidence to me.

It has taken me a long time to see myself as an artist let alone someone worth spending money on. One thing that helped a lot is the number of people who will point to my mistakes and say something like "I just LOVE this part right here."
