New cards?

Post by Geekophile on Wed Apr 06, 2011 11:02 pm

Well, I'm out of my starter cards. Last weekwnd wiped me out. (seriously, they just flew out of my tent)They were just generic cards form the local print shop, so now I figure I should work on something that says "me." I like the idea of having my face on the card so people will know who they are hiring, this is pretty much what I look like when I go on a gig. I also wanted it to have some of the same elements of my website, so the brown background and font colors. . It took forever, and I really don't want to mess with it anymore (in case I mess it up!) I could use some reassurance that it's not awful.

A) Congrats on running out of your starter cards! That's awesome.

B) I like it Very Happy I have my face on my cards too, for the same reason.

C) Are you just doing one-sided cards or two? Assuming it won't put you out of your pocket much, I would opt for something on the other side, since you have the space anyway, kwim? I know some like to keep it blank so there's a writable surface, in which case why not make it a coloured blank space, ie with the light pink?

Just a thought Smile

I love it and I agree that you should put removal instructions on the back!
The only thing I would say as constructive criticism is that my eye goes to the rose in your hair first THEN your face and I notice the paint on the face. I think you are more important than the rose, so maybe you could make the rose less saturated or darker with Photoshop?

I put nothing on the back of mine because I put sticky magnets on them. A lot of people don't need our services right away and having the card staring them in the face every morning as they make breakfast makes it a little less likely to get lost

Since you've got the space , I'd suggest having your name, email, and website in a larger font for BAM here it is instead of squinting as some older people may do.

Ah! So I fiddled. Now I have three card designs (all just a smidge different) and I can't decide which one to use! Leaning toward the middle non-flower one? Oh, why oh why did I fiddle? Help me pick guys. 1, 2, or 3?

Oh and this is what my back side looks like:

I pick #2 because of the same reason. ...but maybe a touch more distance between the business name and your head? Very Happy

Vote for the middle, non-flowered one! Just make sure your copy is moved/spaced properly Razz ("Smiley" looks a touch cramped beside your head, and your shoulder is blocking the end of your email.)

I'd match the blue lettering to the blue on your face. Ditto the pink. And might as well do the rest of the copy matched to your white shirt to pop since it's a smaller font and the light pink (?) might not be AS sharp, kwim?

Middle one it is! Of course, it seems I've got a ton to change before sending off for a million cards, but I think I can get by with my shoulder blocking the .com and the blues not matching on the few I get right away from the UPS store. That ought to take me through at least this weekend. Thanks for weighing in so guickly guys- I'd be wondering in the wilderness without you!
