No facepainting allowed - Only Balloons
I am doing a festival in a couple weeks. I am not allowed to face paint, as they have an exclusive painter. I respect that. I actually can't wait to meet her and check out her designs. Anyhow, I am able to do glitter tattoos and balloons. I learned the hairbands at TJAM on the Road last year so I am thinking of selling 6-8 different designs - devil, angel, flower, ladybug, mouse ears, viking horns, monster/alien eyeball, and hearts. Any other ideas?
In addition, I am thinking of twisting one request. I would like to do bracelets, hats, swords, wands, wings(both dragon and fairy) and custom sculptures. I'm wondering what you all do when balloons are purchased then the child pops it. Do you replace it at no charge? What do you think those hairbands should cost? I agree with an earlier post about $1-$5 depending on complexity. Also, should I setup my booth like I do when I facepaint - photos of only the sculptures I can do right there and then? Any suggestions? Thanks!!

I only replace the balloon ONCE--and when they come to you after the first one pops, let them know then and there--this is the ONLY replacement--next time you have to pay full price.

I will only replace or fix balloons once and even then, not if I know the kid just jumped on it or something like that... it's my discretion to do that and if I'm really busy, sorry but wait in line. I'm usually pretty nice about it, but it's totally up to you, you don't need to make any promises when you are GIVING them a replacement.
I do $1 per balloon in the sculpture... Monkey in a Palm Tree is three balloons, so it's $3. Yes, some are easier or harder, but customers find it easier to attach price to quantity. I have a words only list by price on a banner from vistaprint that I use for events.

maybe you can add small animals, as the parents try to get some for younger kids to keep them happy, i try to give them a dog or cat even add a leash if the kid walks but just let them know that if they let it touch the floor it might pop.
Re: No facepainting allowed - Only Balloons
I just made up a drawn balloon board. And a list with our prices $3 balloons and $5 designs. I do like Perry for rule of thumb $1 per balloon UNLESS I Know I can charge more. There are some designs that I can sell at $5 that for some reason just take a couple of balloons. I would do easy quick designs. And we replace if they ask or if it is an accident within a decent time frame. I usually have a sign that states NO REFUNDS AND NO REPLACEMENTS as that our lines can sometimes be really long and if they pay and something happens then they are more likely to want a replacement or a fix. This Saturday I left my sign and we fixed like 5 balloons. But it was alright cause we weren't totally slammed just steady.
I am not familiar with the head bands...am I missing something totally cool here? They sound awesome!
