My son is amazing, and he makes me so proud!!!

Post by photomomma6 on Thu Apr 07, 2011 10:27 pm

Just had to share this with you all since I dont' have anyone else to share such a special thing with...My 2 sons, Zach 18 and MIchael 16 are in the show choir at school. They are currently in New York City, and are going to perform on Saturday at the National Show Choir Competition, so this is a really big trip for the choir.
Today, after they had arrived, Zach called me and told me he was just crossing the Hudson River, and guess where he was? At the Statue of LIberty! Ellis Island, and all. I don't know how you moms are, but when just these little things come up, where they take the time to think, "Mom needs to hear about this!", it just makes me cry knowing that he thought about me, and that I'd want to share that moment with him. They are both amazing young men, and I love them so much...they're going to make some lucky young ladies wonderful husbands someday. I'm so proud! Sad

I have to say I know just how you feel. I think it must be something between boys and their moms. I have a son who is 19 and amazing. He has had a lot thrown on his young shoulders. I got a colon cancer diagnosis when he was 14 and that boy never left my side. I've been an unsupported single mother since the day he was born and i have to say his "dad" is missing out on the best thing God put here on earth, the fool. I have always said I can't show him how to be a man but I can teach him how to treat a woman, and to respect himself and others. He is now studying to get his masters in mechanical engineering, his dating history reads like he's in the united nations, and although he doesn't do his own laundry(or pick up his dirty clothes when he's home) He calls his mom almost everyday. He tells me everything(well maybe..lol) and we have quite a few uncomfortable(ugh) conversations where I've been holding my ears and singing"lalalala to much info, lalala". I guess I'm trying to say he's wonderful and my best friend. I see your boys are of an age where they will soon be starting their own lives either college or out in the world, although i cried like a baby (and still do sometimes) it doesn't end- that special relationship you have, it changes sure but it's kind of better in ways. I find everything he's doing as exciting and as wonderful as he does by the sheer infection of his voice. So congrats on your relationship with your wonderful children it is truly something to be proud of in the world we live in today, and I'm sure they know how blessed they are to have you as their mother.

That almost made me cry...I have 2 boys ages 3 and 6 and they are such Momma's boys...I can imagine them being that way when they get older, makes me feel all warm inside. I know if there is no one else, I will always have my boys by my side!

One thing you need to know is that they don't live with me. We live 3 hours south of them, and I only see them every month or so for a weekend. when I married my current husband, they decided to live with their dad, but we lived just a mile away then. So, last time I was in town, my 16 year old just laid his head on me and hugged me for so long in the car and said, "I miss you so much, Mommy!" His stepmom is great, but he doesnt' get that cuddle time with Mom. He's a REAL cuddler, and I know he misses that, so we hug as much as we can when I'm there. (I'm crying again!) This has been so hard on me, but they are incredible, and I know that I'm responsible for their good upbringing, since their dad wasnt' there for them until they moved in with him. God is good, and has seen to it to take care of them! Thanks for all the mommy support!!! Laughing
