Need replacement for gig!! Leesburg, VA - 4/23/2011

She's looking for a Scooby themed birthday for daughter turning 6.
The pay is $130 for 2hrs- 2PM-4PM.

It seems my assistant booked me another gig on the same day before this one came in and forgot to tell me.

YIKES! That is WAY low for Northern VA. Most painters get around $100-125 per hour so that might be hard to fill.

Just a piece of friendly advice, when your rates are much lower than the area's going rate and you can't work your job and need a fill in, it will be impossible to get someone to work for your rates. Charging the lower rates ends of biting you in the butt really.

Metina, I know! I know! I called around and $100 seemed to be where everyone was, I was going for $85 because I'm new - though I guess I shouldn't undervalue myself either way. But I dropped it by $20 because I just wasn't getting any work. Once I did that it started trickling in and now I'm getting booked up.

I need to set up my website once I get some pictures done and I was planning on revisiting my pricing then.

You're right though, I really should be charging more. Thank you!
