Harquass? North African Tatoo how to?

Post by aussiemarie on Thu May 05, 2011 4:55 pm

Can someone tell me about harquass? Like how to make my own paint or should it really really be ordered online?
I would love patterns. and how to find 'talc"?

talc is just talcum powder from the drug store, but if you want patterns, historical information and some of the reasons for the tribal ornamentation, everything you would need to know can be found here:

The word relates more to the patterns and traditions more than the paint. I use Temptu for harquus patterns for bellydancers and people just looking for funky face art. Hope that helps!!

Thank you Mehndi. I would love to try this as temporary tatoo. I love the dark blackness. Wouldnt it make a marvelous celtic or tribal design paint? I am seeing dragons, curlie cues and something organic in form and shape....

It does! And it has very good lasting power. I have a photo of it on a girls face done traditionally from the henna/body art conference in Stow on Wold, England, but can't seem to locate it right now...but here it is on a neck at a Cancer Care ride:

And a dragon on the same ride:

I'll try to dig up the gal photo tomorrow. It's pretty buried! LOL (2007 I believe)

Works great for tribal pieces, maori warrior type stuff and can look pretty realistic!
